Bring out Half-Life 3, Left 4 Dead 3, Portal 3, or even some information about (now vaporware?) steam box, or a new ip instead of hashing out old ideas, or micro-transaction items.

Come on valve...its been like what, nearly 10 years since half-life 2?

Who needs Half-Life 3, Left 4 Dead 3, or Portal 3 when you've got... Trading cards...

Don't hold your breath.

I have been slowly straying away from Valve in general, it is disappointing to me, that so many games activate through Steam, because I try me best to now support it when I can.

I buy physical copies of games, and use other sources to get games at a nice discount.

In terms of games which Valve originally was, they have not released anything note worthy since Half-Life 2. Yes, Portal 2, was great, but had no true significance for me in gaming. It was a fun 4 hour puzzle/platform game. With hilarious commentary.

I honestly don't see anything new in terms of games coming from Valve ever again, only small "update" games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which was another quick cash rehash of the old game for consoles.

The gaming industry is deteriorating quickly, especially for the PC.

I never really played any of the games Valve put out but I love Steam so to me seeing their focus on Steam is fantastic.

Why haven't you played Valves games yet? What are you waiting for?

Smashbro292036d ago

I don't really dig the whole first person shooter genre.

It would be better if they actually give us a game rather than this business bullshit X-(

while i agree, steam is very profitable for them on royalties. so their looking for new ways too cement steamworks an encourage developers to want to use their service as well add ways too attract new player base. no matter how well Half-Life 3, Left 4 Dead 3, or Portal 3 sold, it never compare too the time/cost pay out of royalties. that why their focusing so much on that instead of new games. not that i mind as i enjoy tier service.

so this is what they've been working on instead of making hl2 e3

This is part of Valve's steambox plans with levels for achievements just like PSN/XBL, and trading cards/discounts for playing. Kinda like PS+, but free.

HL3 is coming as well. Just not until Steambox is ready for the public. Should only be 1-2 years away from a reveal I suspect.

1-2 years is probably spot on :(
