Shahid Ahmad: Sony has “More Developer Engagement on PS4 Than We’ve had for any Previous Console”

Shahid Ahmad, Senior Business Development Manager at SCEE, made quite the stir last week when he teased “an amazing big title coming to Vita.”

Well, Shahid recently talked to Gamasutra about all things PlayStation, revealing that “I think we’re going to have a really [PS4] good launch, and I think we’re going to have a good amount of content appearing for quite some time on that. We’ve got more developer engagement on PS4 than we’ve had for any previous console, so that’s a really healthy sign.” This is a very good thing for everyone because, as Ahmad said: “There isn’t a console in history where making sure that you have content for it wasn’t an issue.”

Thats good cause if the devs are comfy with what they are doing then they will make better games quicker.

Skips1231d ago (Edited 1231d ago )

Agreed. Not surprising given all the praise from developers the PS4 has been getting.

combined with strong 3rd party support...

= Games, games, and more GAMES!!!

Agreed, from all of these developer praises and games that are coming to the PS4, the PS4's launch could be very successful, it can maybe even repeat the PS1's reign.

for the PS4 it's almost as easy as "copy - paste" because of the architecture, wide engine support and the self publishing option for developers.

Two words i have to say:

Greatness awaits!

MikeMyers1231d ago

Isn't there also more game developers now overall than at any time in Playstation history?

That's been one of Sony's main focuses for the PS4, and developers have said nothing but positive comments about it.

Everything sounds good so far.

@zebramocha

If the Xbox had stronger 1st party titles, the third party titles wouldn't sell as much.
CoD doesn't sell as well on PS3 as it does on 360 because when PlayStation customers go to buy a game there are many more options to choose from. With 360 your best bet is to go with a 3rd party title, since the options are limited.

PS2's epic story will repeated !

Imalwaysright1231d ago

For Sony to repeat PS2 story they will need variety and to achieve that, they need 3rd parties to stop turning every game into a generic shooter. Good luck with that.

Shuyin1231d ago

As sad as it is..just no. Sony can't be THAT epic this time around. Think of all the exclusives the PS2 had? Which didn't go multiplat? Very few.
Nonetheless the PS4 will reign king. It will be very compelling. Defo looking forward to it :D

cedaridge1231d ago

u took the words right out of my mouth. back to the ps2 days.

Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers!

NewMonday1231d ago

someone should take that Balmer clip and edit Mark Cerny's face into it.

CEOSteveBallmer1231d ago

LOL!! its somehow ironic that steve ballmer said this years ago and yet, the Xbox is being criticized for having less exclusives.
