Final Fantasy XIII-2 ‘Digital Contents Selection’ & ‘Ultimate Hits’ editions hit Japan July 18

Square Enix announced today that two new discounted editions of last year’s hit PS3 and X360 RPG Final Fantasy XIII-2 for the Japanese market. An FFXIII-2 “Digital Contents Selection” edition, priced at 5,040 yen, will come with the bulk of the game’s DLC.

But if you just want the game sans all that DLC, a cheaper “Ultimate Hits FFXIII-2″ edition is also available. Priced at 2,940 yen. Gamers who just want to see XIII-2′s story through the game might find this version a better value, as the only DLC content you absolutely need, really, is the Lightning’s Story part, which brings the game’s cliffhanger ending to a partial closure, and ties into the forthcoming Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.
