"There's so much that could be told in the Mass Effect universe." [OXM UK]
A Garrus game would be all kinds of awesome, but I do wonder whether it's possible to sell a game with a properly non-human protagonist (that's "properly" as in "looks genuinely alien, rather than just a normal dude with a funny-shaped nose"). After all, if Western developers have reservations about putting women/non-white males on the cover... I reckon Aria would make an awesome lead too.
"A Garrus game" +1 Perhaps if it was a digital release, the non-human thing wouldn't be a problem, because they'd be selling to people who already "get" Mass Effect not mainstream consumers
Garrus is my buddy. Love that fella and he deserves his own spin off.
Garrus? Not gonna happen. I hear he's in the middle of some calibrations...
I'd prefer a prequel to Mass Effect playing as Thane. You would essentially be one of the greatest assassins in the world, with ones of the coolest character designs. They could also dive further into his relationship with his son. Though Garrus would most definitely be my next choice.
Would appreciate a game that takes place in a different time. Maybe in another cycle, or in a cycle we know nothing about. I also think it would be cool if you just played as an average marine/soldier in the war. You could also have an RPG where you create a soldier for a given faction and fight in major battles. There's a lot they could do, I just hope they don't blow it.
A different cycle would mean they don't have to worry about integrating all the player decisions from the first trilogy - could be helpful. I'd quite like to see an ME that's entirely about the social and branching story aspects, with very little combat. An L.A. Noire set aboard the Citadel, maybe.
A Garrus game would be EPIC.
I dont mine seeing Kasumi Goto or a game that has events after Mass Effect 3. Or a game playing as a Cerebus Soldier
"Javik" Just because a couple of BSN fangirls goes wild over a DLC character and spams the "lel throw everyone out of the airlock" over and over doesn't warrant him to get his very own spin off game. Illusive Man has somewhat of a rich backstory, thanks to the comics, so he would be a great fit. Garrus, although is a great character, lacks the sort of good backstory Illusive Man has, so he also wouldn't be that much of a good choice.
A game centering around the Illusive Man and his conspirative doings would be awesome. Would need a great script to pull it off though.
I like the idea of an Illusive Man focused ME-Spin-off
A javik game would be interesting, since he talks about all of the races in his cycle I think the setting would be interesting. Maybe not even javik but a game that's set in the prothean cycle way before the reapers, how about when the protheans begin building their empire.
So they would go with Javik and not Jack. I would choose to get a deeper understanding of the Subject Zero story then all the useless information Javik has about his species that got their ass kicked by the Reapers.
Prequels are boring imo because you know what will happen therefore any decisions made will not serve any purpose. I am skeptical about a spin off because of the same reason how will choices matter. Either they should move forward or set in an alternate universe or something. Tbh idk what they can do with the franchise anymore.
I don't want a spin-off, I want a sequel to the events of ME3.
If they are going to do a spin off they should go full out and make a Monkey Island style humourous point and click adventure game starring Conrad Verner. I'd probably buy that.
Maybe an RPG game ? you know the way the game was meant to be until it turned into a poor mans GoW ?
Javik was by far my least favorite character...I expected him to be much less of a soldier and a little bit more respectable than just another warrior. He's too genereic and replaceable IMO. I'd rather play as Garrus by far.
I really hope Bioware innovates and gives us something new in the Mass Effect galaxy. Maybe even intergalactic war between the inhabitants of the Milky Way vs. a nearby galaxy, let's say Andromeda. Open the scope, new characters, with more aliens who are not humanoid. I doubt it will happen, as Bioware recently stated that to develop a game with alien races that differ from the two arms two legs template would cause development costs to soar astronomically. But a guy can dream. I would love for the next Mass Effect game to give me the same sense of wonder and anticipation I had before the release of ME1. If Bioware go the route of the familiar, giving us characters we've seen and fought alongside already, that is not going to happen.
