Still Playing: Tomb Raider

EDGE: "This new Tomb Raider is gorgeous, a technical triumph no doubt, but on my maiden playthrough the sweeping, lens-flared vistas and jaw-dropping scenic reveals felt hampered by visual indicators and pop-ups telling me all about the gamification of what I was doing. XP rewards, unlockable galleries, new base camps and item upgrades… so much information when the game-world was trying to tell me its own nuanced story of twisted history and torturous terrain. And as I breezed through the shootouts I yearned for the original Tomb Raider and its sequel, with their unforgiving jumps and geometry that harked back to Jordan Mechner’s original Prince Of Persia and where the body-count wasn’t so… Schwarzenegger." (PC, PS3, Tomb Raider, Xbox 360)

Can't wait until they go back to their roots so "Tomb Raider" will mean more than just a name.

This is exactly what TR needed. Underworld had ok puzzles, but the story was ridiculous, but more so, play Underworld after playing the new TR. I dare you. The difference in controls is remarkable. The New TR has this freedom in the controls and aiming and targeting enemies with your weapons is amazing! In Underworld the controls feel stiff and aiming is a pain the ass.

ehh i felt left down, so much shooting, pointless fights specially at the end poinyless spot wher eu could walk soo sloooow, i misse the true toombraide, puzzles, less hunting for diarys, articas to fill out more time or XP. it was enjoyable, but luckluster, cammera suxked at times

How this game isnt over a 90 on metacritic is beyond me.now if they ciyld add larah acrobats and back to roots puzzles to all this omg.

Imagine being in cover (best cover system of any game I might add) and a enemie rushes you while in cover and you flip over it dualweilding a storm of bullets be4 you land.

N4g shuns individuality, but not everyones going to like the game and I can respect that.

I hate bioshock infinite, I tried hard to like the game but imo its a sub-par shooter with a good story and isnt in the same league as vanilla.

im with you, i had to force my self to finish, its a good game, if it had been a new IP but as a tomb raider, it felt short,
