Watch Dogs Devs on PS4 Are “Able to Push Further” Every Aspect of the Game, DS4 Touchpad Discussed

Lately, Watch Dogs has been getting quite a bit of attention, thanks in part to a now revealed November release date on PS3, as well as the developer diary about how the team behind the game is planning on taking advantage of the PlayStation 4. - PSLS (PS4, Watch Dogs)

This would be the perfect game to show off how the Touchpad can improve immersion.

Gimme some TouchPad support!

Try using touchpad on a laptop, horrible
thechosenone  +   1007d ago
I don't know what kind of laptop you're using but touch works exceptionally well on my MacBook Pro. And if Vita is any indication of the quality of the touch tech used by Sony then the DS4 should function perfectly fine in any game.

No thanks!

We need WD 2 on next gen only, or Getaway 3/8 Days or an next gen exclusive.

I think Ubisoft is Sony's best friend now. Kinda like Microsoft and Activision except Sony don't pay them haha
TrendyGamers  +   1007d ago
Was that an intentional or unintentional 'dogs are man's best friend' joke?
GusBricker  +   1007d ago
Of course Sony is paying them. Don't be so naive.
fermcr  +   1007d ago
Yes, Ubisoft is making exclusive content for the PS4 for free /s

Seriously, do you really believe that Sony doesn't pay them for exclsuive content?
Do you still believe in Santa ?

I'm not talking about DLC I'm talking about how they're praising the PS4 so much lately.

@Enemy

Yes your right and I couldn't edit and change the way I put it to make more sense. Lol

It's called business, so yeah, Sony pays them to spend more time with PlayStation platforms. Sony's always had connections with Ubisoft and EA, though. I think you meant to say Sony isn't wasting all their money on DLC instead of exclusives. Can't blame Microsoft, though. Their 1st party support is bordering on nonexistent.

Watch_Dogs looking amazing so far.

As long as the touchpad doesn't feel like a forced gimmick, I'll be happy with it.
CommonSenseGamer  +   1007d ago
So, they can push the game further on PS4 than on PS3...no brainer I would have thought.
Monkeysmarts  +   1007d ago
You would think so, but there are people who genuinely believe PS4 is barely an upgrade over PS3. I mean genuinely they believe this.
thesoftware730  +   1007d ago
I wonder if it will be the same on the 720?

with the touchpad on the dual shock it might be able to mimic a few Wii U features(to a small extent).
MasterCornholio  +   1007d ago
And to an even bigger extent with the smartphone app and if we are lucky cross controller support with the Vita.

It should be a snap for them because they already have the Wii U controls mapped out so porting the configuration to the Vita should be easy.

The PS4 Is A High End Gaming PC

I'll give you 3/10. Would have scored higher if you tacked on another sentence.
NastyLeftHook0  +   1007d ago
i have a feeling ps4 will be the best console version bar none.
stage88  +   1007d ago
Of course.
Sketchy_Galore  +   1007d ago
With so many different versions of this thing coming out it would be nice if they let us know what videos we've seen will be representative of what system. The original E3 gameplay was the most impressive footage to me personally but I have no idea if I'm hyping myself too much expecting it to look like that on the PS4.
Prcko  +   1007d ago
i just wanna see differences between PC ultimate and PS4
if i don't see some big difference gonna buy ps4 version asap

I don't think the differences will be as noticable as they were this gen.

But on a serious note, isn't this how Ubisoft started going on about things when the WII U was first announced? That in and of itself makes me just a tad bit sceptical.

This is going to be neat with the built in speaker on the controller.Cell chatter or eavesdropping will be much more personal now
isarai  +   1007d ago
I think using the touchpad is going to be standard for navigating menus and maps which sounds fantastic to me, pinch zoom and tap to center in a game map sounds like it would be so much easier and streamlined than what we have today slowly navigating maps with analog sticks
gazgriff2k12  +   1007d ago
This is why i want GTA 5 on ps4 not ps3
SpinalRemains  +   1007d ago
I'm still not entirely sure how the touchpad will be implemented.

When I first saw the touchpad, the first thing I thought of was that it would be ideal for quick swaps in games like Skyrim or by swiping it to select from a weapon wheel or something. Basically I'm thinking it will fir best for auxilliary menu navigating; making the shortcut a bit more immersive and efficient.

Beyond that though, I really don't like the idea of using it for in game mini-games. I love PS Vita, but I really didn't care for the mini-games within Golden Abyss. The one cool part was the charcoal rubbing, but even that only was so cool. I just don't see the touchpad being a deal breaker, a system seller or anything more than a novelty addition to our PS games. Perhaps I have no imagination, but I'm just not sold on its greatness yet.
