Next-Gen: Should we still have Season Passes?

Season Passes are a statement of intent from developers to gamers. They are a financial contract put in place to progress a game; continuing to produce content post launch.

However, things don’t always go to plan, and as a result of that important questions must be asked. Such as, are they really the most attractive and effective model to promote DLC purchases? Are gamers really getting value for money?

And perhaps the most important of them all, should they make it to next gen? (2K Games, EA, PC, PS4, Wii U, Xbox One)

I see no reason not to have them they are just an option for those die hard players. Things like the recent Borderlands 2 DLC raise questions, but all DLC that was suppose to be in the season pass where done they just decided to add some more DLC down the line. I think the new DLC for Borderlands 2 is the best of the bunch. The Pycho character looks really fun to play.

Season Pass is very good idea imho, why not? Haven't bought any yet...

I think cramming more content in to the actual game is more important. I will never support a season pass and blindly agree to get content (when I'm unsure of the quality of the content).

Most content addons are complete bull shit, i mean they do it with COD i see, by letting you buy maps?. That shit is the worst for multiplayer because it alienates players, may as well split the game in 2 and screw the community up and at the same time screw them over by forcing them to pay if they have to.

This problem never really existed except for full expansions in the past, it was only when the 360 came around that we had this DLC bs and now it is spreading even more.

Even to PC which used to have download patches for free content, i remember Soldier of Fortune 2 getting many great free upgrades all the way to Gold edition and it was awesome. if you buy the game then all content should be free, if there are a few packs for weapons or cosmetic stuff which you have to pay for then that's not bad.. but obviously developers get greedy.

You can blame MS for forcing people to pay for Portal 2 DLC, and Left 4 Dead 2 DLC on 360 as well. Because i got all the extra content for those games free on Steam.

No we shouldn't have season passes, they are just a way for games companies to rip us off.

When did we ever need it ?.

Can't we just go back to the days where you bought a game and that was it?

If you really liked it you would buy an expansion pack. These days expansions are made before the game releases which is a total rip!

You'll only fool me once you greedy pigs, I'll never get ripped off from another season pass.

Can't wait for these greedy pubs/devs get a rude awakening when more people start shunning their products in masses.

This is not good for the industry, it's only pushing people away and dividing the gameplay experience based on how much money you can shell out for a game.
