Josh of CCC says: "When Bob Hoskins, John Leguizamo, and Dennis Hopper agreed to star in 1993's atrocious adaptation of Nintendo's most beloved franchise, they couldn't possibly have predicted the avalanche of sub-par film making that it would inspire. After Super Mario Bros. hit theaters, Hollywood studios started lining up to turn popular video games into vacuous action movies. The result is 20 years worth of franchise-damaging garbage whose only purpose is to fill wire baskets at used DVD stores."

Except for the part where the show is terrible and the game is going to be another all but forgotten mmo by the end of summer I suppose.

At least this article didn't try to praise the awfulness that is the Resident Evil films. Whether you like them or not, you have to admit that the films have almost nothing to do with the game series, beyond a few name drops.

I would love for a decent director to get the chance to reboot that series.

If only Gore Verbinski could have got his Bioshock adaptation off the ground...For some reason The Great Gatsby reminds of what it could have been; with the stylized art deco, immersive 3D n watnot.
