Several comparison screenshots have been revealed for the upcoming Playstation 3 remastered role-playing video game from Square Enix, “Final Fantasy X-2 HD.”
Looks great can't for this remastered collection
yes they didn't only apply the HD filter they added some roundings around the arms and edges. Pretty cool effort i'll buy this collection now SE finally treats their fans the way deserve!
character models look better on the PS3 remake but everything else looks much better on the PCSX2. PS3: http://cdn2-b.examiner.com/... PCSX2: http://cdn2-b.examiner.com/...
True, however the emulator is likely chucking on a bunch of effects that most devs would never dream of using anyway. If you look at some of the other screens the character models are also strangely elongated in the screens from PCSX2, it's likely when they were taken there was a lot more than just AA in use on the emulator
Gotta love comparisons of 'HD' remakes with sub-HD screenshots.... Games are in 1080p / 720p and we get comparisons in 600x300... smh
Why do people call these HD remakes? They arent and it gives a different impression of what they are. These are HD remasters. A remake is the new freddy movie that came out last year. A remaster is more along the lines of prettying up a DVD to release it on Blu-ray.
@ Minato Shhhhh, common sense isn't allowed on the internet, you know that.
hard to tell really. The textures in the ps3 version look higher rez but less saturated than in the pcx2 version. Also it does almost look like the poly count is bigger in the ps3 version... hard to tell though. Look at riku's hair. Her braid is less angular in the ps3 version.
I disagree. The character models are better, the hair is noticeably more detailed and if you look at the clouds the sky is more detailed as well. I also noticed that foliage looked better too.
Backgrounds are just darker on PCSX2 smh.
No it doesn't. The PCSX2 version just have a darker color scheme, and the colors look saturated. But You can't be serious that there is more textures and polygons in there right? The developers know what theyre doing.
The PCSX2 looks over saturated and oily. Probably due to the heavy AA that person used and their rgb settings, it's definitely not as easy on the eye as the remaster.
I got to say the PS3 version looks better than when I put my FFX PS2 disc in my beast of a gaming PC and emulate it. That's pretty good considering with the PCSX2 I can make it look far better and run at a higher resolution than the developers at the time ever thought possible. One downside though...The colors look more washed out and not as vivid on the PS3 as the PCSX2 version. Still better than the PS2 version though. Oh and by the way the PCSX2 doesn't look over-saturated when I play it.
You're still only upscaling a natively low res game. You won't get the same detail as with a proper PS3 remaster, especially when they add higher res textures. Just like with every game. Also, it's cleaner, not washed out and your TV will add extra contrast anyway.
Yeah we dont care about that. Much rather have a case and add this to my PS3 library.
Looks great for my Vita.
Looks best on PS3. Unfortunately, it plays like crap and has a ridiculous story on all versions.
Opinions are like assholes... I think that it looks beautiful in HD. The emulator does an absolutely FANTASTIC job at upping the resolution, but they've completely redone the textures and it looks absolutely brilliant; something which can't be emulated on a PC. As for the "playing like crap" comment, the Battle system is one of the best things about this game! It might not be the story, but the gameplay is great.
Totally agree broheeme,. x-2 actually has the best gameplay out of the series, story was OK, but it is an expansion of the universe we fell in love with in X, I don't mind. I actually liked that it was laid back until the ending. X was amazing tho, holy cow that was a good game, can't wait to play it again, the HD remaster is a huge improvement.
LMAO at that second part
The amount of disagrees are more than a little shocking...Clearly, these are the opinions that are getting us a 13-3.
I emulate it and the big difference is the HD Collection has Widescreen Support. The PCSX2 version you can have higher resolution, and add post-processing as well as other things. But it will always be in 4:3 format unless you stretch it.
I thought there was a wide-screen hack for emulator. btw, I didn't agree or disagree. Uncertainty has that effect.
I was wrong, I haven't emulated it in over a year. And as far as I can tell the thread for that started in march of last year. There's still issues with 2D things stretching like menu's and not ingame cutscenes.
It can be rendered 16*9 but pre-rendered video is stuck 4:3.
Oh, that makes sense, then. It would explain a few things about this comparison too.
You can play it in 16:9, real widescreen not stretched, by applying a patch. http://youtu.be/MK9mg8aou4Q http://youtu.be/2dVHWnAC49c http://ps2wide.net/f.html
the funny thing about the emulation is that it forces all these things through software and it still looks good. Now if only Sony put all that power on the PS4 to emulate PS2 games like the PCSX2 does, that'd be like a dream come true.
why are they capitalizing so much on X-2 with the advertising? shouldnt they be focusing on the good game in the collection? and not the horribly embarrassing one?
only thing embarrassing here is your post
Mainly because Square Enix isn't marketing their products solely based on your opinions... luckily. FINAL FANTASY X is a fantastic game, but I'm not sure why you think they are "capatalizing" FINAL FANTASY X-2 HD more than FINAL FANTASY X; this is the first time we've seen anything to do with FINAL FANTASY X-2 HD since the trailer, so the advertising has been focussed mainly on FINAL FANTASY X. Incorrect observation, good sir. Grossly incorrect indeed...
I don't know if this counts as "advertising," for one. For another, the game actually isn't that bad, once you get over your preconceptions, particularly about it being the same as FFX was. Of course, if people did that, the reputation of X-2 AND XIII would be different.
I KEEP THROWING MONEY AT MY LAPTOP AND NOTHING IS HAPPENING!
Crisis core complete. Please make.
I modded my PSP to play that game after my disc got crushed :(
Never played X so this is cool. I have played over 80 hours of X-2 though.
PlayStation 3- meet Auron. Auron- meet PlayStation 3. I think you'll find that you have a lot in common.
Omg, I loved Auron! I think he's arguably one of the coolest FF character ever.
They need to re release my game that came out for the Saturn. It would look amazon on new consoles. Nobody ever thanked me for giving my life to save sega
google is your friend. http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...
Can't wait to get my hands on final fantasy X hd and that free Frisbee it's bundled with. I'll try throw it across Brisbane river.
Let's remaster every Final Fantasy except the one everyone is asking for, -Squenix
they only remaster the ones that are easy to remaster. All the ones on PS1 have pre-rendered backgrounds and FFVI is all sprites so Square would need to do everything from scratch.
I just pre-ordered this. I know a lot of people hate on X-2, but I really enjoyed it.
same here huge ff x-2 fan .. so to see this HD of my first and favorite Favorite FF its like a dream i can wait for it to come out
For me, the only real problem of X-2 is the ridiculously high encounter rate. One time while playing X-2, I jumped a ledge and while mid-air I got into a battle. After that, before I got to the ground, I got into ANOTHER battle.
These HD remasters are some of the best looking I've seen. Gonna replay the absolute heck out of both of these incredible games.
i don't care what anybody says its a great game and i cant wait to play it on the road
It's a shame they won't re-do the lip-syncing. That's what this game really needs above all else. That would make a huge difference to me.
I cannot wait to play these. FF X was a masterpiece, and FF X-2, for all its flaws, was a lot of fun to play, though trying to get the 100% completion was a headache. Too bad there isn't a multiplayer Blitzball component. That minigame consumed so much of my time back in the day. It's no Triple Triad, but I found it a great minigame nonetheless.
