How Tomb Raider sets the gold standard for series reboots

Reboots aren't something that everybody greets with enthusiasm, and for good reason. They can be awful misrepresentations of our favourite movies, comics or video games, but in the case of the new Tomb Raider reboot from Crystal Dynamics we've got something that can satisfy long time fans and newcomers alike. It is truly a game that has one eye on the past whilst striving to make advancements in modern gaming. But what is it that makes it so successful, and how can other reboots learn from Tomb Raider? Join Liam Dean as he tries to answer this question and shed some light on the development process of one of the year's hottest games. (PC, PS3, Tomb Raider, Xbox 360)

I really enjoyed the game and think it was a brilliant reboot. It will be interesting to see where it goes next.

It was one of those games that was greater than the sum of its parts. It didn't have the best graphics, story or boss battles. The enemy all had the same AI. Some of the voice acting was shoddy and Lara's friends were a horribly clichéd bunch - but it was still awesome from start to finish.

Tomb Raider is a reboot done well, and would like to see how the series goes on...

DmC is a reboot from hell, and would like it die as soon as possible...
