While the GTX 780 looks great (specification wise), the price is a bit high for me.

I will be leaning towards the GTX 770, it has performance better than the GTX 680 but at the price of a GTX 670 ($399), now that's epic!

770 also uses the same cooler as Titan now that is pure win

Yup, definately a big update from that high-size PCB on the GTX 670 and that ugly cooler.

You should check the prices of of the 600 series when these launch. They're sure to get a price drop, and they may still have the better Pr:Pe ratio.

I have an OC 660, I think I should hold out until the 800 series? I have an i7 930 OC'ed to 3.8 ghz and 8gb DDR3 RAM. I'm thinking of upgrading processor and video card simultaneously when the 800 series releases, thoughts?

My thought is: Why? It seems your current specs can play all games at very high graphics for like the next 3 years :P My "old" gtx 460 and Phenom II X4 3,4ghz handled Bioshock Infinite on Highest settings no problemos. :)
Gravitic  +   744d ago
Have the exact same specs as you, a08andan :P still playing most games on high with ease. Which is fine for me.

I bought the 660TI FTW edition a few months ago, I'm good for a few years. I have an i5 2500k with 8GB of DDR3 ram as well and it runs like a dream now.

Yeah, I am waiting too. My hd7950 maxes essentially everything right now and we don't know exactly what next generation games will require, so I think it's best to wait.

The 800 series might be a small jump, so if I were you I'd hold out to the 900 or 1000 series where there should be a noticeable jump in performance.

@MegaMohsi

Wait to upgrade your system. Unless you are running at 2560x1440 or have triple screens it's just not worth the upgrade yet with your current setup. Save your money and upgrade everything when the 800's come out.

780 is sounding pretty good right now, especially at $600. Id stick with my two 560ti's, but 1GB VRAM just doesnt cut it anymore.
Plagasx  +   744d ago
Damn, I have a 680 and I really want a 780 because of that 3gb ram...but I might just get a 770 instead because of the price and it's faster than the 680...
LAWSON72  +   744d ago
I would be tempted to buy the 770 but iirc it only has 2gb gddr5 and I would like to have at least 3. I think I will just buy another 7950.

I am very happy with my very capable GTX 690. Not looking for an upgrade for a while.
