Electronic Arts registers domains for Battlefield 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20

Call it defensive or call it long-term planning, but Electronic Arts has gone out and registered dot-com domains for Battlefield 13 all the way through Battlefield 20. On May 2, EA registered each of the names through the brand protection agency Corporation Service Company (CSC), adding to its ever-growing collection of Battlefield-related web addresses which includes its crown-jewel, a name that EA spent $80,000 USD to acquire. (Battlefield 4, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

With the runtime error page, the URL for the article is in the address bar. Just remove the N4G 'click-to' text and direct yourself to the article. I'd post the link, but it refused saying "Your comment looks like spam."

You're not missing anything either way. It's a terrible 'article.'

Ah well thank you I got it in the end. I was hoping to see a bit more but I see it's more like a notification of sorts.

Battlefield 20 won't even be here until maybe 2055 or something.

They are on BF4............16 BF games from now....crap...might not even be this century to be honest.

Would anyone even buy any game that has 19 direct sequels ?

Talk about uncreative.

I could be dead by then lol
got to love how this is a console game now.
Pandamobile  +   937d ago
Not really a big deal. No one likes domain squatters, and that's all this is intended to prevent.
GraveLord  +   937d ago
If this was COD, people would be singing a completely different tune. In fact, Activision did this too a couple years ago and the response from this community is not surprising.
Pandamobile  +   937d ago
People on this site are generally pretty uninformed of common practices in the game industry.

IDK why, but I laughed when I read the title.

Please dont annualise the Battlefield franchise!
Blackdeath_663  +   937d ago
now that they are no longer publishing medal of honor (on a regular basis anyways) i can imagine EA doing just that. or they will do what they did with battlefeild3 and sell alot of dlc. personally i would prefer an annual battlefield game and only buy the ones i think show a significant improvement than to buy one half-arsed battlefield game and have dlc shoved in my face. alternatively after releasing BF4 dice can focus on a starwars game that would be cool too

They'll annualize it.. but it'll most likely be an 'actual' BF game and a Bad Company game ever other year.. or some other spinoff between actual BF games

Reminds me of that fake Nextbox commercial from Real Trailers.

"...the 720's gonna have Halo 5, 6, 7,..and 8,.....and 9!"

I'm guessing Battlefield 13 will probably be out in 2040 or something? Lol!

I don't know why this is such big news. Call of Duty has probably already secured "Call of Duty 8-438."
sourav93  +   937d ago
Lol there are 9 Call of Duty games already.
Snookies12  +   937d ago
Eh, who's keeping count... Lol. Man though, I'll have lost some serious respect for Battlefield if it starts becoming annualized. That's the only military-style shooter I still enjoy these days (multi-player at least, the campaigns suck). I really liked CoD MW's campaign until Black Ops and everything after that has been pretty unimpressive as well.

BigKev45  +   937d ago
Actually call of duty 8-752...
Kran  +   937d ago
Clearly they don't think they'll reach Battlefield 21...
vork77  +   937d ago
i rather not play these and say battlefield 1 is just like the others
Mikefizzled  +   937d ago
I don't know what all the fuss is about. This is merely them collecting IPs because some people try sell them to them at extortionate prices.
Hufandpuf  +   937d ago
I don't think the franchise will get THAT far imo. By the 13th one we mines well go to a real battlezone lol
BattleTorn  +   937d ago
That's quite ambitious. What about 5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12?
