My Sentiments Exactly: 360 No Scope Triple Collateral

Charlie of Xboxer360 writes, "Every time we boot into one of those austere blemishes of mediocrity known as a ‘first person shooter multiplayer’, we are affronted with the glories of the sniper rifle. Call of Duty, Battlefield, Halo, Crysis – the list goes on and on, and in all of these we have the dreaded sniper rifle. It’s a one shot wonder, befitting many of the people that choose it as their primary weapon (personal gripe, but camping weapons are not fun). But why do these titillate my frustration so, why do I and many others become so riled by what should be considered just a part of the game." (Battlefield, Call of Duty, Halo, PS3, Xbox 360)

Because COD made them grossly overpowered to sell games to no-talent hacks that like believing they are awesome at something when it's really just 90% broken game mechanics and 10% luck, the way they abuse it. Battlefield however shouldn't be on your list. Battlefield is perfect. I haven't read your article yet, getting to it now.

EDIT: Okay, I read your article. Short and sweet reply is : That's what you get for playing a shitty game like COD on a terribly immature and casual system like a 360. And Battlefield isn't plagued with these issues at all. Being a sniper is rather difficult in BF, and also quite flexible with the option of taking a M417 with a Holographic in close quarters while still not being overpowered. Also, Aim Assist is for pussies. I and none of my friends use it. It's actually annoying and causes me to play worse when I'm aiming at someone and it clings and moves off my target when someone else runs by. It's stupid and unnecessary. Controllers have perfect sensitivity as it is, in my opinion.

When I was in Basic Training for the Army, one of my Drill Sargeants was an Army Ranger Sniper. I once asked him what his favorite weapon was; He slightly smiled, and said "The Barret 50 Cal, one shot to the stomach splits people in half."

If you knew this, maybe you wouldn't consider a .50 cal sniper rifle, that sometimes takes 2 shots for a kill in COD, overpowered. No scoping is bullshit, however.

Oh, I am very well informed when it comes to firearms. Yeah, .50 cal is very powerful. They are also not the most portable weapon. Sprinting around a map, jumping off 10 foot ledges and spinning around with it like it's an air rifle is overpowered. Just shooting one without being prone would be a challenge. Hence, overpowered. You would never take one in a close quarters battle. Using the bipod should be required to fire one. However, the M21 EBR, which is just a modified M14, would work splendidly in a multi role kind of position. Yet it seems like it's always underpowered. .308 is no slouch.

^I agree with you 100% man. You shouldn't be very mobile (at all) with the heavier weapons. Oh well, video games. Also, you're the first person I've seen to mention how the Aim Assist actually screws you over, rather than helping. It's never helped me, it only moves my sights off someone when someone pops around a corner or something.
