Too Much Hype?

FrontBurnr: Earlier this week Infinity Ward released their debut teaser trailer for the next Call of Duty installment entitled Ghosts. Only it wasn’t really a trailer that showed the audience anything about the game. It was more of a trailer that teased another trailer and then asked you to pre-order the game you know nothing about. It’s an interesting angle that only a franchise like Call of Duty could pull off.

Since Call of Duty hit consoles in 2003, it has been a prominent part of many gamer’s collections. But have we really hit a point where players will jump to pre-order a game they haven’t seen based solely on the fact that it has “Call of Duty” in the title? (Call of Duty: Ghosts, Culture)

most games are driven off of hype. While it is silly to preorder a game with gameplay, how often has gameplay been doctored for advertisement's sake?

Yes, I got hyped by just reading the phrase "New Next-Gen Engine"

I'm not aware of any hype.

As for the pre-order. Bungie showed us concept art and asked us to pre-order. At least you pretty much know what you'll get with CoD.

Can't wait till you can pre-order games still on Kickstarter.

It's just like how they announce any COD, a teaser trailer, for a trailer. Maybe they might throw in a bit of gameplay on MS next console.
