New Indie Games Category coming to PlayStation Store today

With innovative gaming experiences now more diverse than ever, PlayStation and Sony Network Entertainment are proud to stand behind indie-led development with the introduction of a new PlayStation Store “Indie Games” category coming later today. (PS Vita, PS3, Sony)

Good move, as long as indie games get advertised next to big games on the PS store while using this category to help people better find the indie games.

now please fix PS Mobile...

This sounds awesome it's good to know that great indie games will have a bit of the spotlight on the PSN. Considering tons of games aren't always on gaming sites and up to date with all the releases it's nice to know that indie games will have their own place to shine instead of possibly going unnoticed next to bigger more recognizable releases.

BTW great avatar, Toro is my favorite fighter for PSASBR and you've reminded me it's been awhile since I played the game. I'm going to boot up the game right now and hopefully kick some butt.

This is an obvious move to highlight the many talented Indie devs that Sony have been courting recently. They've made a big push to secure, and give support to, as many indies as possible; making the PS4 incredibly accessible to them and even helping with funding.

We should see an massive influx of innovative, unique and interesting titles exclusively on PS3/PS4 in the very near future.

We've already been seeing..
an influx of innovative, unique and interesting titles lately. Wiiware, xbl and psmini's all have gems waiting to be played.

The key selling point is advertising them. People know there are indie games on the respected platforms BUT they dont get the recognition that more mainstream titles get.

It's good that PSN will recognize the need to promote that side. Just as it was good when MS did the same on XBL.

The more indie games get the advertising, the more people will be able to enjoy these diamonds in the rough.

I wouldn't call it an influx more the usual steady stream. My point was that now Sony are opening their doors wider to the indie community, making it easier to get their games on the platform, we should see an increase to what we already have on PSN. Who knows when the next break-away title will immerge from these devs and Sony is putting themselves in a great position to secure that content on their platform, possibly even exclusively.

Question how are indie games different from psn games exactly. Is it just a way to advertise indie games made by indie developers?
