How 13 Year Old Shooting Mother Over Video Game Will Fuel The Ban on Violent Video Games

With the recent gun debates and many believing the motives behind mass killings are violent video games, this recent event will add fuel to the fire.

Noah Crooks admittedly shot his mom with his .22 rifle because she took the Call of Duty game away from him after he got bad grades in school. This is a tragic story that left me speechless, thoughtless as I read about it, but I couldn’t help to think as a gamer the bad publicity this is gonna bring to the Gaming community. (Call of Duty, Culture, Industry)

Intermittent explosive disorder + M-rated game + rifle is a recipe for disasters. If your child suffer from a illness like that why would give things that might attribute to the mental illness? Its just asking for trouble.

Dude you said it. I wonder why they don't call for a ban on guns instead. But no, lets just blame it on video games instead.

I'm gonna print a T-shirt that says "Video games don't kill people guns do".

There already is a push to ban guns. I don't know if you are from the U.S, but it is the right of the people to bear arms. Guns should not be banned, it'll just make 'em illegal but people will still have access to them just as they have access right now, just illegally.

I would also like to add that people kill people, for whatever motives.

That is a load of crap. There is no such push to ban guns in America. Stop spinning reasonable legislation into fringe craziness. The only bill that stood any chance of getting passed was expanded background checks. Expanded in that they would also cover gun shows and purchasing guns and ammo online. <- Which should have ALWAYS existed. I had to go through an extensive background check to get mine.

Everyone should have to go through a background check if they want a gun. The Toomey / Mansion bill should've passed. Toomey is my senator so maybe I'm a little bias.

I thought I read yesterday that the mom bought him the gun?

Regardless. One person is dead, one is going to juvinelle then prison and the father/husband has now lost 2 family members.

Besides you can blame it on whatever disorder you want or video games but in the end he admitted to trying to rape her and killing her.
