Nintendo Won't Have a Press Conference at E3 - But, It Isn't the End of the World

It's THAT time of year again. The most important time of year, for any gamer, aside from the holiday season. That's right - It's E3. The Electronic Entertainment Expo is a little more than a month away, and developers, investors, and gamers alike, are all getting revved up for the exciting events that will take place, at what is to be the BIGGEST, most important E3 in years. But despite it's importance, a certain company made a startling announcement that has left many stunned and others waving their "DOOM!" flags:

"We decided not to host a large-scale presentation targeted at everyone in the international audience where we announce new information as we did in the past"
- Satoru Iwata - CEO of Nintendo of America (3DS, E3, Nintendo, Wii U)

its nintendo, so no its not the end of the world. its just a really, really, really, really, really, bad choice marketing wise. I keep hearing they need to save money but with the 3ds outselling everything why would they need to save. ive honestly never seen anyone back down from a console since dreamcast, and we know THAT outcome...SEGA was already in the hole though before the dreamcast (which was a great console imo) . Nintendo is not so to me this is a pussy move..that or they just dont have much to show. Sony skipped on the vita last year and look what happened people were thinking the vita wasn't a priority for sony. the vita will make it but sonys marketing was highly criticized for this and they should have been. the wiiu is less than a year old selling worse than expected and yoh skip out on gamings biggest stage? bad marketing and Nintendo is failing the wiiu....all these excuses are dumb.

Pretty much sums it up. I think it's a terrible move marketing wise but how this spells doom and gloom like a lot fools on the internet are spouting is beyond me.

It's not the END of the World-
BUT "it's the END of the World as Wii Know it." (knew it)

If they release trailers and gameplay footage from some of these rumored games, they'll do well. Maybe the money they save from not doing a huge show can go towards advertising?

I wonder how many articles there will be on Nintendo did a clever/stupid/indifferent thing by not being at e3.

Someone should start a sweepstake. Ill go for 143 including the 1s already created. Iwata can count them for us. Winner gets a lap dance from Reggie.

Bad business decisions will come back and haunt them. ;)

They always do right!
GC- bad decision- and yet was very profitable for them.
DS- bad decision- and is the most successful portable
Wii- bad decision- and was their most successful console

So yeah I guess I can see where you are going with this, because obviously Nintendo has been hurting and bleeding money for generations now!/s
Lol

"Nintendo has been hurting and bleeding money for generations now!/s"

Oooooh, I guess that is why the 3DS prints money-
-because Nintendo keeps losing it.

(jokingly Adding to your sarcastic premise)

I'll be honest. I never really like Nintendo's E3 conferences. They were actually quite boring and didn't really offer me anything but I still would have liked them to have a conference this year. I don't really have a clue what all this Nintendo Direct stuff is...

I am currently pretty bored with Nintendo, they lack the quality they used to have. But.... Don't tell me Shigsy coming out with a zelda hat isn't entertaining.

Nintendo Direct is an online video presentation that has been around for about two years now. It is here that Nintendo has been making some pretty stellar announcements.

Personally, I think its a punk move on Nintendo's part. For the past 5 or 6 years Reggie Fils-Aime have been taking the stage, gloating about the Wii's sales numbers and software profits every time. Now that he cant do that, they choose not to even have a press conference?? come on.

i never cared about the press conferences. The only reason i watched them is for the game and system announcments. Id rather have a focused announcment session without all the long speeches and sales info and flash.

like some kind of Nintendo direct? Sounds like a grand idea.
