I know I’m not the only here, who thinks that the use of abusive and foul language in video games has gone way out of proportion, in today’s age. Let me break the ice by bringing this issue/non-issue out in the open. Don’t mistake this for a ‘Concerned Parents’ kind of a post, it is not, trust me. I am not a parent.
Interesting news for Ubisoft fans. News today from TOKYOPOP as the publisher announces the launch on December 14th of Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon REMIX, an original new boys’ love manga inspired by the Netflix anime series featuring alter egos of characters from the hit Ubisoft video games.

Titan fall 2 was chefs kiss. For those of you who haven't played it go ahead. Brilliant. With each level being creatively different.
Crystal Dynamics' daring reboot of Tomb Raider brought Lara Croft back into the spotlight.
An attempt at a reboot with no momentum for continuance. Just a torture-porn trilogy about a poor rich girl with daddy issues reluctantly being pulling into a world of violence, versus say the adventures of a quipping Brit treasure hunter who solves ancient puzzles while gunning down rare and extinct animals that it originally was?
Honestly, don't have all that killing. If the devs had been truly clever, not focused on mangling a message about the senselessness of killing which was seemingly and quickly forgotten, they could have worked, if not bloodlessly then not directly by Laura's hand, dealing with enemies as part of the puzzle solving - they didn't have in the game in the first place...
"Revived a '90s Gaming Icon"
LOL
the only thing similar between the 2 is the name of the protagonist. if they would have given the game a different name, NONE would even think that it was somehow a resurrected Tomb Raider IP. the last game with the real Tomb Raider DNA was TR Underworld.
It's a growing trend in every other media and our society in general, I think.
Its not a bad thing to swear here is a quote from Stephen Fry
"Swearing is a really important part of one's life. It would be impossible to imagine going through life without swearing and without enjoying swearing... There used to be mad, silly, prissy people who used to say swearing was a sign of a poor vocabulary -such utter nonsense. The people I know who swear the most tend to have the widest vocabularies and the kind of person who says swearing is a sign of a poor vocabulary usually have a pretty poor vocabulary themselves... The sort of twee person who thinks swearing is in any way a sign of a lack of education or a lack of verbal interest or -is just a fucking lunatic... I haven't met anybody who's truly shocked at swearing, really, they're only shocked on behalf of other people. Well, you know, that's preposterous... or they say 'it's not necessary'. As if that should stop one doing it! It's not necessary to have coloured socks, it's not necessary for this cushion to be here, but is anyone going to write in and say 'I was shocked to see that cushion there, it really wasn't necessary'? No, things not being necessary is what makes life interesting -the little extras in life."

The fact is its natural to swear and it brings out our emotions more passionatly if its natural for us then a developer who wants to make a character beleivable would want to make him swear in situations.
it's just words, who gives a damn ?
Everyone swears, if you can't deal with something as small as swear words then you must so mentally weak.
That's the problem with the society we live in today. We have become so desensitized that its okay to allow the okeedoke into every form of media. Especially with the younger generation today.
I've always loved games but I never expected "pulp fiction" type games to be normal for shock value and entertainment. The line must be drawn somewhere. What happened to morals?
Just because the game is for "Mature only" doesn't mean I want hear profanity and see lewd scenes. I don't want to see someone brutally murdered or going on killing sprees in a game.
But that is exactly where games are going in. I rented Tomb Raider and would have enjoyed it if it weren't for the swears. I don't tolerate ignorance and their are many other ways to get your point across without profanity. Games like GTA I don’t even bother with. If I don't want my children saying it how do I look playing games that are full of it? Tomb Raider caught me by surprise because prior to this one all of the games never had this much cussing in it.
Call of Duty BO II and Gears of War 2 also has excess profanity but at least you can opt the graphic content filler. A wise move. Not sure why the developers of Tomb Raider didn’t put that in the game.
I would rather then not have profanity at all in games but if they have to for “effect” then please put in a filter.
