Android Atlas Controller: Did Green Throttle Rip Off X-Box?

The Android Atlas controller specially designed by Green Throttle Games for use on the TV appears almost identical to the Microsoft's X-Box 360 controller. Green Throttle is gunning hard for the console gamer market, can this controller help them capture it? (Android, Xbox 360)

it is clear to anyone who looks at them that the Xbox is an evolution of the Dreamcast controller that is an evolution of the Saturn 3D controller that is in line with the N64 controller... a completely different controller path from duel shock despite it's duel analog controls... it's not as if MS hasn't been making controllers for years and years before hand

MS was suppose to buy Sega, but B.Gates thought in the end it wasn't going to be profitable. Also MS helped with the Dreamcast's OS. MS and Sega was buddy buddy for awhile, that's why Xbox had alot of Sega ports/games.

A.D.H.D, I'm so off-topic.

I've never once ever heard of a deal involving ms buying sega. Gunna need to see a link otherwise Im pretty sure its fanboy ranting to the point of foaming at the mouth.

After Sega flopped with the Saturn (sales wise, was a great console), they went 3rd party and now are all over Nintendo, xbox, and sony.
creepjack  +   854d ago
sure they did, but it is the standard for video game controllers now. Sony would do well to rip them off on that too.

It's all a matter of preference. I recently got to play COD at a mates house on 360 and I couldn't get used to the stick layout after years on PS.

Although, Im wanting to have a crack on Team Fortress on PC and know the xbox (PC) controller works best (after k/m obviously).
JoGam  +   854d ago
Exactly. Its preference. My opinion is the Playstation controller is better.

"I couldn't get used to the stick layout after years on PS."
I own both systems and the main thing the PS3 controller has over the 360s is that it's AWESOME for fighting games. And for FPS's that control layout is universal(commands/input) almost FPS's follow it, All thanks to Bungie. The controls are almost the same, but with the Xbox just switched the left D-pad and Analog.

The quality of the PS controller is far and beyond better than the 360 controller, but ergonomically, the 360 controller just feels so much better in my hands. The size, the offset sticks, and the triggers are FAR superior, especially for shooters.
jeffgoldwin  +   854d ago
Overall I feel the 360 controller is more comfortable, however, the biggest issue is what controller you've spent years getting accustomed to.

I have a Logitech controller that is very similar to sony controllers, that I hated at first. Now after a few weeks, I changed my grip from the 360 controllers and I like it a lot.

So basically both are really well designed setups and will be changed next gen.

Millions of Playstation fans would hunt Sony down tar and feather them if they changed the controller to that. I love the DS controller, and wouldn't want it any other way.
L-a-i-n  +   854d ago
I am with you there man love the DS controller a lot more than the Xbox controller just feels wrong to me.
Donnieboi  +   854d ago
Who cares if an android controller was ripping off xbox's controller? That's MS's problem, not ours.

You could say the same thing about other things we argue about. For example...sales.

"You could say the same thing about everything we argue about."

Fixed.

It looks like it but that's not a bad thing as the Xbox controller (switchable D-pad version)is my personal fav of all the systems I've owned.

PC gamers use it as well so It can't be a bad design eh?

I used to use a adapter to use a PS2 controller on a pc last gen but you had to map most of it yourself. PC Games now come with xbox controller support and that's great IMO.
vikingland1  +   854d ago
The D pad is the only thing I see different.
Cueil  +   854d ago
that d-pad is offly close to breaking sony owned patents

Clearly, but the Xbox controller is pretty tight and works well, I always thought the Wii U Pro Controller was a bit of a ripoff of the Xbox controller as well.

I think imitation is just proof that the Xbox controller is a pretty darn good one.
RuleofOne343  +   854d ago
Not if thier being sued by MS , which I hope occur soon cause it a clear rip off . Send in the lawyers. Haha
SegaGamer  +   854d ago
Yes but does it really matter ? The Xbox 360 controller is almost perfect, who wouldn't want a controller like that ?
azshorty2003  +   854d ago
What?! No... I don't see the slightest resemblance.
creepjack  +   854d ago
The only thing I dont like about the 360 controller is the quality of the internals. I cant tell you how many controller I've gone through due to the sticks "walking" or drifting. Its just built like crap. THe Sony controllers are built so much better. More responsive sticks and no drifting, but damn they feel like they are made for an 8 years olds hand. Cramp city.....
Knight_Crawler  +   854d ago
Strange casue I have had the same experiance with the PS controllers...for some reason my trigger springs keep going out on my PS controllers.

Maybe my manly hands have something to do with it :(
jeffgoldwin  +   854d ago
Ive had several controllers and never a problem, so not sure what quality your referring too.
