Bubblews: "Beyond: Two Souls will require around ten hours to be completed on the first play through. The proclamation sparked some discussion as to whether or not the gameplay is too short."
Neither. I intend to complete the game only once, like I did with Heavy Rain. In that case, 10 hours is just fine for that kind of experience. And it's not too long for those who plan to play it several time to see all the different endings.
you don't care about multiple ending and outcomes? That's its replay value!
I want my first playthrough to be the one I remember. Like the one and only story. It will ruin my experience if I play it several times with different decisions and different endings.
I really hope this game is Beyond my expectations.
It will be "Beyond" your expectations all right. If not then... Goldmember: Would you like a smoke and a pancake? You know, flapjack and a cigarette? No? All right. Cigar and a waffle? No? Pipe and a crepe? No? Bong and a blintz? No? Oh, well, then there is no pleasing you.
This ones a keeper.
For me, neither because I don't care. While I think it's great to have variety in gameplay styles, I don't play these interactive movies some label as "games".
Sadly you missed Heavy Rain and the Walkind Dead episodes. Both were excellent games.
I thought 10 hours was a pretty good length. If it's anything like Heavy rain it will have a fair bit of replay value too
It's already much longer than a movie (and most games this gen) and there are trophies to be earned which will likely take more than 1 playthrough.
Lets try it before we make any judgements
I agree, to do otherwise is stupid. Until you play the game how can you possibly know if it’s too long or short?
Too long. Shrink it down to zero hours and I will be happy.
People pay $20(more if your buying snacks) to see a 2 hour movie that they can't rewatch or interact with. $60 for a ten hour experience that you can replay is fair. Still, I personally wouldn't buy it at $60 given how quickly game prices drop these days. Just because something is worth $60 doesn't mean people can't try to find a better deal.
lets put this into perspective? "Beyond: Two Souls will require around ten hours to be completed on the first play through. The proclamation sparked some discussion as to whether or not the gameplay is too short." i got crysis 3 a great game, hardest dificulty, got all nanosuit upgrades did all side missions, took my time and i finished it in 5 hours 9 minutes, most games these days dont go past 6 hours, this is a welcome change always take the chance to play a longer game hate how games are so short these days, started playing ffx last month 189 hours so far, still not done, still got 3 dark aeons to kill along with nemesis and penance aswell as a few of the original boss's in the monster arena, thats what i call a game filled with content
10 hours seems pretty good for a game like this.
Depends how good that 10 experience is. Take journey for example. The game was extremely short but at the same time it was an incredible experience. If a 10 game provides a great experience I don't see anything wrong with the length of it. @honest-gamer I'm having trouble deciding between Persona 4 the golden and Soul Sacrifice. Both games are great and offer a ton of hours of playtime. Motorola RAZR i
How long does one expect to play the story of Jodie Holmes? 40 plus hours, Beyond 2 Souls isn't an RPG. There is no character leveling, character customization, etc... It's simplistic in terms of how you play, Beyond 2 Souls is more about what you do. A players actions as determined by on screen choices, which will fade if no choice is made. Thus, the length of the game won't be anything excessive, besides if Beyond 2 Souls is anything like Heavy Rain, there's more than one ending, which means more time playing the game.
too long for me
This is the length of one branch of the storyline. You have to consider, if the differences decisions make to the experience, are anything like those in heavy rain, then 10 hours is absolutely incredible considering the fact that there is some world class acting talent involved.
If it fits the story that their trying to tell, then I see no problem with it. The different possible endings will also provide replay value.
It all depends on the satisfaction i will get after completing it!
