During a question and answer session after the recent financial report, Iwata discusses why Nintendo delays games and what benefit it has to gamers.
No surprise here as I said before, Nintendo make games look good.
While I do believe this falls in line with the notion that a great game needs time and effort to be great, it's disappointing Nintendo wasn't better prepared for this part of the fiscal year. Hopefully they can bust out more software 3DS style.
“A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever.” - Shigeru Miyamoto Other developers need to remember this at all times.
I think the same can be said of a lot of Japanese devs. There is a better emphasis on producing something that's ready to ship, rather than releasing a buggy mess long before it's truly ready to ship.
That goes along with the whole Japanese work ethic. Here in North America it's all about dollars and sales, who cares if it's not perfect, we can patch it at a later date. The Japanese take a lot more pride in the quality of products they put out there.
This is why Nintendo games sale very well. People know there getting high quality software and you don't need tons of later added features to make the game run well.
Well said. :)
