Mortal Kombat Has "Room To Expand Into Other Genres" Says Ed Boon

X360A: " Speaking to X360A during the Injustice: Gods Among Us UK finals a couple of weeks ago, Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon told us that the gory fighting series that made his name could expand into other genres in the future.

Mortal Kombat had previously dabbled in scrolling beat 'em ups with the Shaolin Monks spin-off in 2005, starring Liu Kang and Kung Lao in a co-op adventure.

Quizzed as to whether Boon would ever want to return to Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, he told X360A that an MK title in another genre could one day be on the cards." (Mortal Kombat 9, PS3, Xbox 360)

It was on PSone but it basically played like a Mortal Kombat side scroller. I'm talking more Shaolin but with the real starts of Mortal Kombat instead.

I would love to see a Mortal Kombat RPG open world game. I think that could be pretty cool . There is so much you could for the world. It would be open world but you would have hubs you could go to. So this way you can see many of the places in the world of Mortal Kombat.
