Eurogamer: Soul Sacrifice Review

EG writes "It's been over a year since the PlayStation Vita launched, and despite some excellent games like Gravity Rush and Persona 4 Golden, it's fair to say that we're still waiting for its killer app. We'd love to say that Keiji Inafune, Sony's Japan Studio and Marvelous AQL have finally cracked that code - but although Soul Sacrifice has a lot going for it, it falls into the trap of style over substance."

If I hadn't played the demo, I might have thought "dawww, shoot. Well, I guess I still have to wait for a true AAA Vita game".

But I've played the demo.

This game is crack.

Eurogamer, you don't know what you're talking about, simple as that.

Let's see what they gave Monster Hunter Ult. 3, a port of a Wii game. Hmmm, let's see....Wha? 9/10 Kids, this is why we can't have nice things.

Wait for metacritic, so far SS got a 7.5 with just 16 reviews and MH got a total of 7.9 overall. and the user score for SS is 8.5 better than MH which is 8.1 .

One chapter of a game/book/movie can be brilliant, but that does not mean subsequent chapters will follow that standard. Just a thought.

MGS4 did that for me. First 2 chapters = fantastic. The rest of the game (for me) was awful. Demos usually give me a good indication on if I like the game or not though, but your point is still valid.

Have you played the game yourself?

OMNlPOTENT1605d ago

Learn the definition of a port. MH3U has tons of things that MH3 didn't have. Now then, why resort to insulting a different game to make your point? They're both great games.

-GametimeUK-1605d ago

Ouch. Very standard scores for this game so far. I tend to stay away from these games until they are on sale.

Resistance_lord1605d ago

Then you are not very wise my friend.

-GametimeUK-1605d ago

Playing the same game, but just at a later date for less money... quite wise, in my opinion.

Define "standard."

And why aren't you taking the 8+ scores into consideration? 24 out of the 44 reviews submitted here give it an 8 or better. 6 of the remaining 20 don't have numerical scores assigned to them. That leaves 14 out of 44 that you could- based on your remark here- consider "standard."

Sounds to me like the game is better than "standard," whatever your standard is.

I don't get it: why are you ignoring all those other scores and instead making the lower ones more important?

-GametimeUK-1603d ago

I mean it's a good game with the standard fundamentals to make it playable and enjoyable which is fine, but I was expecting brilliant.

I'm only taking in scores from sources I think are reliable so there is no need for me to check up 40+ reviews when I check 3 reliable sites and a few more that I trust, but don't take in to consideration as the previous 3.

My method seems to have brilliant success since I hardly ever purchase a game I don't enjoy, so it works for me and that's what ultimately matters.

Half the review is bitching about difficulty and how the reviewer didnt understand all the options.

"but the wait for the Vita's defining magic moment continues."

Yeah we are done here. imout.jpg
