Soul Sacrifice Review - Edge

"It’s a brave game that dares to weaken players in one way as it empowers them in another. Comcept may be wrong in thinking Monster Hunter would be better if it was just about hunting monsters, but Soul Sacrifice is courageous and thematically bold enough to distinguish itself from the clones that have followed in the wake of Capcom’s phenomenon. As with Inafune’s recurring criticisms of Japan, however, it proves repetition isn’t always the best way to make a point." -Edge (PS Vita, Soul Sacrifice) 6/10

bu bu bu bu they gave Uncharted 2 a 9/10 so they MUST be fair!
chestnut1122  +   671d ago
different genre.
Ron_Danger  +   671d ago
Anytime someone starts a comment with "bu bu bu" I just bu bu bubble them down regardless of which console they defend. So anoying and immature.
fabod86  +   671d ago
Did i say that they are unfair? I think that they are often in their own world when they have to review a game, in the good and in the bad.
Why do you make assumptions from your ass? -_-

Geez. Someone is trying really hard to dmg control. Relax. If you like the game like you say you do, I don't see why these scores affect you.

Why do people treat these review sites as if they are only conprised of one conscience/ opinion?
chestnut1122  +   671d ago
they even criticize MH LOL!

Demo was enough to sell this game to me. Really dont care what the reviewers think they have been all over the place.
r21  +   671d ago
Same here, demo really showed just the tip of the iceberg that is Soul Sacrifice. SS is gonna be awesome!
Ron_Danger  +   671d ago
One thing that stood out for me with the demo was that it was longer than some full retail games today. Co op is very fun also.
Aceman18  +   671d ago
My copy is already paid for and i loved the demo. i don't really care about reviewers opinions.

One of the most promising looking games for me to get a Vita, but it looks like it come up short. I can't find a reason to play my 3DS and can't find a reason to buy a Vita. I need handheld gaming in my life!
Hicken  +   671d ago
It's a miss because of a crappy review that gave it a mediocre score?

Sorry, but the demo for this game is better than a lot of full retail titles. If the whole game is just more of that, then it's definitely worth it.

As for no reasons to buy a Vita.... meh. To each his own, but I see a good dozen titles worth picking one up for. Soul Sacrifice, Gravity Rush, AC:L, LBP, P4G, Disgaea, Wipeout, Sound Shapes, Super Stardust, Escape Plan, Unit 13, Little King's Story, PS All Stars, Zero Escape... and that's excluding quality ports like MLB, BlazBlue, DOA5, Retro City Rampage, and others... and excluding the ability to play PS1 and PSP games(which is HUGE for me).

I know people are still waiting for a "killer app," but I think it's crazy that they'll pass up on all these great gaming experiences in the meanwhile.

Here's a summary of the Edge review:

Even though the plot follows a prisoner who is uncovering the secrets of a book as he progresses through the game, I hated how you were forced to go back to the book after each level and see what you unlocked. Why would I care about story when I've got a review to write?
I thought it was going to just be a strait hack-n-slash game, but once I realized that spells and attacks were consumable I hated that strategy was needed.
Kinger8938  +   671d ago
If you liked the demo, get the game, dont trash reviews because its not what you think the game is, opinions are opinions! The reviews seem mixed enough to prove this
Ron_Danger  +   671d ago
The first paragraph of the review clearly shows that the reviewer doesn't understand the plot/ story of the game... He doesn't understand why you don't just go from level to level. If you've played the demo, you'd understand how misleading the review is.

That's why people are trashing the review.

Ron_Danger  +   671d ago
I know. I agreed with you. I was just pointing out the fault of this review.

Game already looked of high quality from the demo. I liked how the story was told in the book, and the gameplay was smooth.

EDGE mostly gives low scores. Not that 6 is a low score since its above average. I just think they are just too critical of games, its like nothing pleases them.
DivineAssault  +   671d ago
a 6 is horrible imo.. Not that i think the game is a 6.. Im about 2 hours in & im enjoying it with no issues other than the lock on function in corners.. I like the game so far
