"Nintendo recently announced that it would be skipping the large press conferences that tend to be held at E3 this year. Nintendo E3 2013 will not be as grand this year. " | Explosion
Yes, whomever wrote this article knows what they are doing, more so than nintendo?
Of course he knows better than a multimillion $ company knows..
Because multimillion dollar companies NEVER make mistakes or go out of business. Come on, it's pretty easy to see that them skipping out on the big conference is a bad move, especially with the Wii U not doing so well. Nintendo Directs are nice, but they're just not the same.
We all know that corporations know best. EVERY time. /s Nintendo fan downplay is getting pretty awful. This article makes very good points on why skipping the CONFERENCE (the title is confusing, but two sentences in you know that they mean the conference, not E3 all together) is a bad idea.
Considering Nintendo aren't skipping E3 the entire article is pretty much rendered moot. No big, embarrassing press event that's almost entirely talking and "target" renders of games and playable games on the show floor instead? OH THE HORROR!
THE ARTICLE IS WRITTEN IN THE CONTEXT OF A LACK OF CONFERENCE, NOT A LACK OF E3 PRESENCE. DO NOT FALL FOR FANBOYS WHO DON'T READ THE ARTICLE - IT'S EVIDENT TWO SENTENCES IN. Crazy thought; they could put effort into a GOOD presentation. Floor stands don't get reported on 1/10th as much as conference reveals. Same as only doing "directs" and not E3 conference...it's literally the difference between millions or thousands seeing your work. @Below You don't try to save money by cutting out the most important conference of the year. Conference announcements get 100x more media coverage than stands.
They could save a couple mil and do something more productive with it also. the media will still plaster what they show all over even if they dont put on a play.
As long as there are game announcments at E3 I don't care if they have an official presentation or not.
No reason to hold one. Two years ago they announced the ii U. Last year was more Wii U. The Nokia Theater is not a cheap rental as they do their conference off site. If you have nothing epic to promote, save the money, show what you have at your area inside E3 and leave it at that.
Maybe they're skipping E3 so they don't feel pressured into giving the Wii U a price drop?
What I'd like to know is why do all the haters all of a sudden care now about Nintendo's decisions?
Ya know I thought we would stop seeing these kinds of articles as soon as 2K and Valve announced they would also not be attending but alas I suppose that was expecting too much from video game "journalists". Anyhoo people still don't seem to get that Nintendo will be there with new games and announcements but will simply not be having a major press conference. Well here's to 2 more months of this.
I f they were having one would you be excited for it? I don't think it's unfair to talk about. It's something I am sure some people were looking forward to seeing, even if they pretend now they don't care.
Their games will still be there and news sites will be reporting on them. It doesn't really matter to me if they have a formal announcement or not. Nintendo will still have gameplay and impressions and trailers and announcements, everything that comes with E3. All that will be missing is a major press conference. I don't need to see Reggie up on a stage to get all that.
Theyre losing out on potential customers by doing this.. I guess they have to skip it though.. I mean even if they had ALL their AAA titles available to play at the booths, no1 would be there to check em out if PS4/720 is there with nx gen titles.. They did this to themselves though so i dont care.. When & if i see a wii u game i want, ill get it but wii u hasnt sparked even a tiny ounce of my interest & i doubt it will for the rest of the year.. Bayo 2 needs to hurry up as well as that X game from monolith soft but i guess its not in playable form yet so they chose to skip out on showing the world what they have to offer.. Wait, what do they have to show besides those two anyway? Guess we will find out when the next nintendo direct comes around lol
