New details for Batman Arkham Origins have surfaced.
Damn, but that dude practically IS Batman. Ugh, first David Hayter, then the dude from Thief, and now this.
don't forget sam fishers voice actor as well
You just blew my mind.
No Rocksteady, no Kevin Conroy. Best case scenario, Rocksteady is currently working with Kevin Conroy on the true next-gen sequel of the Batman games and Origins is only filling the gap.
You don't think that Will Friedle couldn't do a decent job? After all, Terry McGuiness WAS genetically reprogrammed to BE Bruce Wayne, after all. Plus, he sounds... "inexperienced". Oh, and I really liked the LEGO Batman 2: DCSH Joker. I could buy in.
I liked the voice actor from Splinter Cell: Conviction. I wonder why some of these voice actors aren't returning...
It's sickening....get the original voice actors if you can, they are the ones which made people fall in love with the characters. ....by the way you can add Ironside to that list of yours David Hayter Stephen Russell Kevin Conory Michael Ironside The way this game is going...I don't know why they bothered, it's obviously a quick cash in
80's TV and movie bad guy, Michael Ironside. he's the coolest!! and lets not forget Scanners... http://digboston.com/wp-con...
Hey, Michael Ironside was a pretty awesome good guy in the War of the Worlds TV show.
Yeah this is pretty bad Kevin Conroy is Batman not Clooney,Bale,Killmer,West or Keaton they did their own spin on it but Conroy is Batman. Same for Mark Hamill as the Joker. So this is pretty bad. He has been Batman for me since Batman the animated series in the 90's.
I'll give you Clooney, Keaton, Kilmer, and even Bale, but not Adam West.
Adam West for life.
You know, I was willing to give this game the benefit of the doubt... but now I'm not entirely sure. I mean it may still be fun, but an Arkham game without Kevin Conroy? Just doesn't seem right. @Donnieboi below Heck if I know. I certainly have no idea. I don't see what the point of it would be. If this is canon to the Arkham games, why wouldn't you at least get Kevin Conroy? According to the article the reason is this is a "younger Batman." Last time I checked, Kevin Conroy sounded great as a "younger Batman" in Mask of the Phantasm, but whatever.
Yeah I dunno what their thinking. A lot of strange things happening this year in the industry. Maybe e wanted too much money or something to do it. Still, who else will they find? Maybe they want a younger sounding voice because it's a prequel? I don't know what it is. It's crazy.
You know they keep saying "Younger" Batman and make out it's that far in the past but it dosen't look like that much of a prequel. I'd say 3 years, 4 max by what we've seen They are making it out to be Batmans first adventure where the Joker dosen't exist yet but it's not set that far in the past
And Mark Hamill is on record as retired from doing the Joker :(
That is not okay >_<
Yeah who can forget christmas with the joker. http://www.youtube.com/watc... Offtopic I feel sad for the kids that have to life with todays cartoons the 80's and 90's were so good and now you just have trash except for a few shows like Transformers prime,Avatar,TMNT(not as good as the olde) and the now canceled Green lantern animated and Young justice.
@majiebeast: This is the last season of Transformers Prime, and then its 13 episodes. In the US anyway. in Japan however this is coming: http://io9.com/the-next-tra...
@majiebeast: Too true. Cartoons today are just terrible. We got to have incredible shows like X-Men, Spider-Man, TMNT when they were at their best. These kids today are having their minds destroyed by My Little Pony and the like. At least there's hope that Legend of Korra is a decent sequel to Avatar. I just wish they'd come out with the new season already. And then we have Young Justice, which was something I considered to be similar in style to Batman Beyond, and they go an cancel it for a new Teen Titans show when there is still so much to answer about what happened during that 5 year period between seasons, Wally becoming one with the Speed Force, Darkseid. The people running these networks have to have A.D.D. or something.
@all of you above, theres a lot of great cartoons today, adventure time, regular show, gravity falls, plus all those you mentioned and plenty others. I grew up during the 90's and even tho i enjoyed the cartoons you enjoyed i still enjoy the cartoons today, you just have to open your mind oh and MLP is great, it might not be for you but for some reason it can turn a bad day into a great day
No Kevin Conroy, no Mark Hamill... Time to go cry into my pillow. What's next? Clancy Brown not being Luthor? Daly/Newbern (both great and similar voices) not being Superman?
Yeah I know, I feel like it's the year of "abandoning gaming voice actors" in the game industry this year.
No need for Hamill if his character is dead. I honestly think that Rockteady are working on Batman Gotham City for next gen. There are loads of hints in Arkham City that Scarecrow is out for revenge on the city and Batman, plus he knew Batman's true identity. They will have all the original cast for that I'm sure. Would be sweet as all things if Joker appears at the end of that game as being alive... There must be so much fan pressure, even from people like me who just liked the Arkham games, let alone bonafide Batman fans
they try to reduce cost they want to hire 500 dollar guy
ugh this game is turning into the equivalent of Bioshock 2
I understand why they haven't picked Kevin, but I don't have to like it.
After reading the article I'm kind of excited especially reading that all the boss fights are inspired by the fight with freeze in arkham city easily one of my favorite boss fights of the generation. I'm a little sad about Conroy not being picked up for the role I mean it makes sense why but I can wait and see how the new one will do
Woah.... Then again I didn't write off Christian Bale simply because Michael Keaton didn't reprise his role.... So I suppose logically I should give this cat a chance. Meh. :(
I have known Kevin Conroy for the voice of Batman since my childhood they can't do this :(
The only other person I can think of that can voice Batman is Bruce Greenwood. But regardless, the fans aren't gonna like the news of Conroy not reprising his role.
Settle down folks. This is young batman. I hope thy use the guy from Year One.
Stop your whining about voice actors. Jesus christ. If Kevin Conroy gets too old, dies, or just retires, you'd rather they retire the Batman character from all media than hear another voice? Bruce Greenwood, Adam Baldwin, and Peter Weller have all done a great job already.
But he's still alive. That's not an excuse at the moment. "He'll die one day, so we might as well act like he's dead already." -_-
Adam Baldwin has never been Batman. It was his brother William, and he wasn't that good. Peter Weller was terrible, but then so was TDKR. Bruce Greenwood is pretty good, but I doubt they'll use him due to the same reason they didn't use Conroy. I'm open to new people voicing Batman, but that doesn't change the fact that Kevin Conroy IS Batman. His voice has become nearly as iconic as the character. When I read Batman comics, it's his voice I hear when Batman speaks. Same goes for the Joker and Mark Hamill.
Peter Weller was HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE as Batman in TDKR, especially in Part II where Batman was more invincible than Superman. Batman...Robocop Edition. No, thank you sir.
This game just became invisible to me...Before it was only transparent...but now... *shun*
So all the main voice actors are gone.... yea this is gonna fail.
Wow my interest in this game have just gone down some because of that. Hopefully whoever they pick has at least a decent voice to fill Batman's role.
I guess I'm the only one in the world that HATES Kevin Conroy's voice as Batman? I hate it! Lol. I actually don't hate it but it's certainly not the BEST voice acting ever that's for sure. I hate how he holds his lines to accentuate words. It's very annoying, and has always bothered me even as a young boy watching the cartoons. I think Adam West is a better Batman than he is, especially the voice. But that's just me and i know I'll get disagrees, but I certainly won't be missing Conroy's voice. I DO like his Bruce Wayne voice though, it's slightly different and less annoying than his Batman, so I'll miss that I suppose.
I respect your opinion and i thank you for sharing but IN MY opinion it's horrible. I HATE your opinion. If your opinion had a groin i would kick it. I especially hate that you would say "certainly not the BEST voice acting ever" (reasonable) then go on to say "Adam West is a better Batman" (unforgivable). Kevin will be missed. :/ Time to logg in some Injustice hours.
Voice wise I think his voice is better. Kevin Conroy sucks balls lol. Haha, sorry my man. I loathe your opinion on my opinion then. Kevin won't be missed by me, I'm glad he's not in this one and I cringed when I heard he was going to be in the first two and yelled out "YES" when I heard he wasn't in this one. Sorry dude. Not everyone likes Kevin Conroy, I'm just being honest. You're unforgiveable now shaddup and getouttamyfaaaaace! Lol jk dude. But seriously, I don't mean to diss the guy at all, I just don't like how he accentuates every fucking word he says, he over does it. When he's Bruce he's MUCH better, much more subtle.
"I guess I'm the only one in the world that HATES Kevin Conroy's voice as Batman?" Yes, yes you are. Conroy IS Batman. Conroy can act circles around anything Adam West does, has done or will ever do. Plus who says Batman's voice is suppose to be subtle? Bale changed his Wayne/Batman voice aswell. I'm sure people like Gordon or Rachel would easily notice Bruce's "subtle" voice.
I didn't say that Batman's voice had to be subtle. I said he does the subtle voice for Bruce better than he does the Batman voice. And no, I'm not the only one that hates it, maybe here, sure, but not everywhere. Conroy is NOT Batman, I don't care about how long he's been doing the voice for the cartoons and for the games, I don't like his voice. That's just me though, I've tolerated it for a long time and it's cool, but he just doesn't cut it for me. You can disagree with me until you're blue in the face, and again that's fine. I will never like Conroy's voice and that's that. I've been a Batman fan since 1989 when the Tim Burton one came out and I saw it in theaters, the very first movie I've ever seen in theaters. I used to watch the 1960's show on Fox every day after pre-school. I grew up with Batman. I've liked EVERY iteration of him BESIDES Conroy's voice. I just never liked it man, I don't know what else to tell you.
I call bull. I just read the other day that he was gonna voice batman on IMDB and Wikipedia, plus he is a voice actor he can make himself sound younger because again he is a voice actor.
WTF is this $#%* so late this gen? Ironside, Hayter, Conroy, even Raiden's VA was up in the air for a while during MGR development. Thank god they at least did right by Max Payne and Agent 47. Priorities, devs. Stop with the XXXmillion AAA budgets for unwanted multiplayer, motion controls, DLC, DRM...and just get the BASICS right. VA's bring these charachters to life, even in spite of crappy writing. Portal 2 sang because of its VA's. They deserve their due. Conroy is king.
Well, if we ever get to play a significantly older Batman, I'd like that to be Michael Ironside. This is bad news for me. But I'll still get the game, most definitely. I just hope they find a good enough voice actor instead of Conroy. To my knowledge Harley Quinn in Arkham City also had a different voice actor yet sounded practically the same.
No Rocksteady, no Keven Conroy, tacked-on multiplayer - it's like they don't want me to buy the game.
This is disappointing to say the least, I mean Kevin Conroy even voices Batman in God's Among Us.
Good news guys: Gordon Freeman still has the same voice actor.
"..."-Gordon Freeman A man is inspired by his leadership and will fight aliens for him.
I don't understand why everyone is whining about different voice actors for certain roles. Yeah, it sucks, but you'll get used to it eventually and even embrace it. People don't like change, so when you introduce change you to be forceful, ignore the whining, and let the relatively short attention span of human beings take care of the rest. They'll eventually grow tired of being uncooperative, settle in, and then whine when the next possibility of change arrives. That's human nature for you. Try and tell me that this isn't true.
kinda like paying a subscription to play online lol
A man gets less excited for this game with every bit of news New Batman!=excited Prequel=slightly less Not made by Rocksteady=somewhat excited Silver Age=uh oh No Mark Hamil=not much left No Kevin Conroy=nothing A man will check out reviews but it's looking bad Oh a man forgot MP. Yeah he's not excited at all
exactly, this is how i see it also
Why are they making life harder than it already is? I will still check the game out but this is hard to swallow.
A man could make a sex joke, but he'll take the high road
Damn, this is really sad news. Kevin Conroy's voice personifies Batman for me. I even read the comics in his voice, grew up watching the Adventures of Batman & Robin. Even if they hire someone competent enough to fill his shoes,it'll never feel the same for me. Nevertheless,I'm still anticipating a great game.
So, no Dini, no Conroy, No Hamill, no Rocksteady...and this is supposed to be a continuation of the game franchise?
Out of every DC cartoon move or animated Batman movie Kevin Conroy voice just seems to fit the part of the cape crusader. It like Batman was built around his voice. I know Mark Hammel does the best Joker no one out there comes close to doing a great Joker voice.
They need to call ADAM WEST right now!!!! LOL
._____. I want this game to be great soooooo much, but first no Rocksteady Studios, then multiplayer, and now no Kevin Conroy. It probably will still be good, but I wanted it to be great like City and Asylum.
The characters made the previous games..hopefully they can find some great voice actors to replace the old...will def be a buy when the price drops...
Given what a repetitive, linear, scripted mess the recent batman games have been, this doesn't surprise me. I think a lot of people involved in the productions were expecting more.
Kevin Conroy IS Batman for me I hope this new guy is good.
