I know right. This game will show how video games have matured throughout the years. I'm happy to see it because I grew up with the medium. Games used to be about fun but now they've matured so much that they're able to use them to tackle deep narrative like movies and novels. Can't wait to get my hands on it.

These are not two random actors. These are two Oscar winning/nominated stars who have done some of the best from big budget pictures to amazing independent films. I am so excited to see the relationship between Defoe and Paige and how they translate their talents into this interactive dramatic experience. This is going to be one for the ages.

I said the same thing on another n4g article, and a flock of contentious weirdo's just nerd-raged at me, lol. Just because it looks like a PS4 game, doesn't mean we're saying that the PS4 can't do better. It just so happens to look about as good as some of the PS4's launch games. I'm sure the PS4 can do much better (Deep Down says hello) plus the PS4's 8GB of RAM totally kills the PS3, easy. But man, some people need to chill out. Any way, yeah it looks like a PS4 game to me too. I never seen a PS3 game look so amazing!

Day one purchase!

God of War 3 still holds the graphics crown in my opinion.

"I said the same thing on another n4g article, and a flock of contentious weirdo's just nerd-raged at me"

find that hard to believe knowing that like 85% of the population in N4G are PS3 fanboys....

I remember in an interview with David Cage that Beyond is using an engine designed for PS4 but truncated to adapt to the PS3 architecture.

It really is amazing that Quantic Dream are able to make a game of this magnitude. Just like with Heavy Rain i really hope the game will see the same success.

This game is seriously on par with PS4 graphics. With PS4 having 16x the ram QD will blow us the F*ck away! This game make The Last of Us look a little dated. The game looks so amazing from graphics, animation, story, emotion, and realism. The game looks just great.

Maybe I should of looked at the video before commenting, im not going to, dont want any spoilers lol
haggishurler  +   601d ago
David cage said himself that it was the best he could show without spoilers.
ZoyosJD  +   600d ago
It still had a ****load of underlying spoilers. This in combination with the trailers and I already know more than I wanted.

The trailers are particularly bad...
WildArmed  +   600d ago
Same, I didn't watch the video because of it.

30mins of gameplay is too muccchh for me to spoil.

I feel bad after watching trailers lately coz they spoil bits and pieces all over the game.

Videogames are all about having "fun", that is the main reason why I play them in the first place and I do not want to fill my brain with almost sillish "plots or stories", such games remind me of hollywood crap or soap opears, please ... do some decent and "fun" to play games ...
Genuine-User  +   600d ago
Fun is subjective.
ThyMagicSword  +   600d ago
Your opinion too ... :7
nirwanda  +   600d ago
Hollywood isn't all the same thing either, some people like period drama and some people love toy story or arnie.

Maybe you should borrow it to try it out just as a change from what you usally play.
DigitalRaptor  +   600d ago
Video games are a form of entertainment. Saying they're just for fun is selling the medium short and this is your view because mainstream culture has conditioned you into thinking "games should be fun or bust".

1- Fun is a subjective term. Some people find sports fun and some do not. Some find needle craft fun and others do not. Some find horror films fun and some despise them. I find emotive drama in any form to be fun, whilst clearly you do not.

What is not subjective is creativity and quality.

2- Quantic Dream's games in no way risk the industry from giving up "traditional" "fun" games that focus on all thrills action. There is room for David Cage's output in an industry full of repetition and clones.

Monster Hunter is for "casual" gamers, since when? I use to play Monster Hunter with my brother, because the game feels like ...well ...a game, nothing is more fun than taking down gigantic beasts down with brothers ...distant "brothers" (other online gamers) and yet you are trying to tell me the mainstream culture influenced me in some way or another? On that point you are clearly wronger than wrong. So ..."fun" is subjective, right ...but where is the "fun" when I play alone or games, which do not feel like games at all, I do not see any fun in it. Creativity and quality is also subjective, I do not see the "quality" in Cages games, that is my "subjective" opinion of course, which shows that "quality" is subjective. To point two ...Quantic Dream should work in the movie indutry, because videogames do not need actors like Ellen Page or other random movie-people, wtf is this trend nowadays? Where are the creative "subjects/characters" ;? Did they leave them in their tiny pockets or where?

PS to nirvana/nirwanda: hollywood is crap.

I don't expect you to like this but I think it's worth considering:

I'm starting to see some chinks in Cage's armour. I admire his vision of the future for games (it's the exact same dream I had when I was younger) but there are so many little 'film related' annoyances in this 25 minutes that I found myself drawn to them.

When you've spent a lifetime watching movies and you've become ever more discerning in your choice, it's then difficult to turn that filter off when a game looks like a film. That's Cage's Nemesis right there. To give you an example of what I mean, Cage has always pushed for emotion in the characters. He boasts (and rightly so) that we can now see the emotions in the eyes (PS4 I know but bare with me). Then we actually get to see an emotional scene -- let's say when she can't die -- Cage falls woefully low on my directors list.

Instead of trying to convey the emotions as subtly as the hardware would permit, he opts for shortcuts, and I hate short cuts. The way she portrays the scene is reminiscent of a silent movie. The words fortify the emotion (which is acceptable), but the one thing dragged me straight out of that scene was the orchestral interpretation of the scene. Music written to sound sad so that 'Yes we get it cage! We're meant to feel SAD!'

Too much ... Far too much. Take her animations down to nearly nothing. Keep the camera close and pan across from right to left for the duration of the scene, keeping Ellen Page's face central to the screen. Take the expression in the dialogue down and add defeatism. Make it a silent moment without music. Now Ellen, ACT! The scene he offered was cliqued. Sorry but that's the only word and I love Cage.
