The Adventure Genre Revival is Coming

Clearly, the adventure genre took a turn for the worst. Though there were some small number of adventure games released after their decline, many had declared the adventure genre dead. It's time to tell you how the adventure genre will soon come back and reclaim its former glory. (3DS, Android, Beyond: Two Souls, Casual games, Colossal Cave Adventure, Culture, Industry, iPad, iPhone, Mobile, Next-Gen, Nintendo DS, PC, PS3, PS4, Retro, Tim Schafer, Wii)

Good to hear as it is my favourite gaming genre. Monkey Island ignited the spark for me in 1991 and I've been addicted ever since.

It's a little sad but I still have the Amiga version and a copy of Amiga Power issue 2 with The Secret of Monkey Island review

The hell?

The revival of the adventure genre happened several years ago. Right now, adventure games are pretty goddamn prolific.

The next genres that are being revived are isometric CRPGs and space-combat simulators, both thanks to Kickstarter.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the genre has found a niche in the indie market, but at the same time, I don't see it going much farther than that. And to be honest, I think most fans and developers are perfectly fine with that.

I know I am.
