There are 5 things that lead us to believe that another player could enter the console war in as little as two years time.
There's not even room for 3 consoles as far as I'm concerned. But if competition makes things cheaper I'll take it.
EA...............? I wonder what would happend if EA really made a console and made EA titles exclusive. And imagine EA gettin T2 and GTAV for their console....
Judging by how lazy EA is and how profit margin is far greater to them than anything else they won't be making a console any time soon.
i dont think EA will make any console this gen maybe naext but not this.
Not many people like E.A tho??? Stick with the PS3 should last you 10 years+ ;) (Oh dear a lot of Disagrees are coming my way!) ;-D
Yes, once companies see how Nintendo and 360 are soundly trouncing PS3 and stealing the once dominant market share Sony held, they'd tend to believe that there's room for more competition in the console war.
Can't see EA making their own console. They'd make more money releasing their title on every console + PC.
...that at the very least EA is "looking into" making their own console, or striking a deal with the right player. They have enough exclusives that if they were to merge with Sony or MS they would dominate the market, and with all of their recent acquisitions-- including Peter Moore-- doesn't it just seem like they're up to something? Why go after Take Two so hard? Just sayin'. You know EA reminds me of Dr. Evil in an Austin Powers' movie, with his pinky in his mouth as he once again contemplates world domination....
I understand the possibility of another player, and I do see it happening. I just think it would be a failure especially if hardware gets more and more expensive. Consumers are not gonna blindly jump at another contender unless its really something special. It would have to come from a big brand name company if it did try and enter the market.
But no way do they have the funds to start a console division. A company would have to be willing to take the hit that MS did and maybe more which was $21 billion invested and $7 billion in losses over a 5 year period. EA's total value right now in terms of market cap is $15 billion. They would needs partners and I don't see why they would even bother. EA looks perfectly happy shoveling their titles onto any and all viable platforms. I believe Apple and Samsung have the money to do it but whether they are willing to take that risk is another story.
The software library is king, so if some company makes a console, they better show up with some exclusives from past successful IP's to draw in attention. New IP's are risky. I can see someone trying the casual market angle. This is a newer market and the buyers aren't as rabid and hard to please as the hardcore fans. However, I think the casual market is harder to guess. Mini games could just be a fad, so there is a bit of guesswork to see what works and what doesn't.
I have grown bored of CRUSHING THE BALLS of Nazisoft- they just aren't a challenge anymore! MWAH-HA-HA-HA!!!
Dude, you're a real [email protected], you know that?
And you're a real cunt, so shut the hell up.
after seeing how long and how much $$$$ it took MS to get a foothold in the market, I can't imagine someone else wanting to waste resources on a 4th piece of the pie.
Won't happen. At least I think it won't be successful. That sounds like a car parts manufacturer tries to build a car. Some can, but they won't do it. But you never know. If that happens, say goodbye to a PS4 (or Xbox720).
getting into the console market. I hope Acer is only going to manufacture the next console for Microsoft, as they obviously need assistance in that area. But i don`t think a 4th console option is going to help the industry at this point. The investments are too big these days to risk. Also the economy is not in a possition to support a 4th console.
I know it won't happen but I would love Sega to get back in the market. Even if it was just a console like the Wii that would be great. It does not need to be the most powerful system on the market just as long as it comes out it would be great. Plus if it had great infrastructure that would allow people to buy any games from all the past Sega systems that would even be better.
If I were to take a guess I'd go with this alliance......... ATI/AMD on Hardware, Acer on manufacturing, Sega for branding. There are all the pieces of the puzzle needed to bring a console to market. MS took a huge financial loss because it didn't know what it was doing. The first Xbox was a PC and the 360 was rushed out the door. MS hard to start from scratch. The above alliance has most of the pieces already in place.
