Surprised he won to be honest, I thought it would be hard to get more votes than AP...he is on top of the world right now in terms of popularity.

AP is the best in the business today but he also has a pretty good offensive line. Barry Sanders on the other hand had a mediocre offensive line but still managed to always be the leading rusher in most of his career. I say if he played for a winning team in his career he would easily get 2000+ yards 3 or 4 years or more. He was just that good. I aint even a lions fan but i watched the lions games just because Barry Sanders was that bad azz of a running back.

Edit: I think he would dominate even in todays NFL. That is how good he really was. He never missed a season to injury because he was hard to hit lol & had horse legs. Str8 Beast.

Yup u summed it all up right here ... Lousy team great talent . Yards per carry ridiculous on such a crap team... Think about it . 5 ft 8 215 pounds , 30 plus inch thighs ... No great speed but you could not tackle this guy .. he was caught from behind a lot meaning his insane yards per carry was all evading... Quite simply the best

Congrats to Barry. Wish they'd change it to Madden 14. 25 just doesnt seem right.

I grew up watching Sanders play, he was great and humble, never did a TD dance or spike, just handed the ball to the ref like he'd been there before.

Classy guy.

EXACTLY!!!!

His career was way too short, but I understand why he walked. Sanders was definitely one of the best of all time.
