AMD has launched the "world's fastest GPU"?

AMD has launched Radeon 7990 which they have called ‘World’s Fastest GPU’. It can run heavy graphics games at a resolution of ’3840 X 2160′. Shounds amazing, isn’t it?

According to AMD, this GPU will run games at 4K resolution and up-to 6 displays at one time. The actual secret behind this card’s amazing performance capabilities is that it combines Two HD 7970 GPUs on a single board. This card has has over 4,000 stream processors
Would you agree? (PC, Tech)

Okay... but its 2 GPUs?

yes..HD 7970 GPUs on a single board. I wouldn't directly compare it with Titan though. But this is an era of GPU wars, so everything is compared to everything. According to the benchmarks I checked and linked in article, they basically showed that it is faster than Titan.

690 vs 7990 is the only comparison that's fair. Top Dual GPU offerings.

7970 vs Titan is the only ATI/NVIDIA comparison that's fair. Top Single GPU offerings.

World's fastest card, not GPU.

*Two HD 7970 on a single board. not 1 (it was a typo). . my bad.

@Too Tall. you are right, mate.

SLI configurations has officially become a thing of the past

This has always been ATI's business model for the longest time. Create a card with 2 GPU's on it.

It's OK I guess but all it means is the PC gamer will generally need a larger PSU.

Hence the reason Nvidia has always been one step ahead of ATI/AMD

When the cost of Nvidia's single GPU(Titan ofcourse) is equal to the cost of 2 GPUs of AMD (HD 7970) ... AMD is trully a winner!!!

But there is this 1 undeniable fact that GeForce Titan is the most powerful single GPU currently available in the market.(I am sure that you will agree on that).
Another fact is that Titan produces less heat than Radeon 7990 and same goes for power consumption. Whereas, the raw power capacity of this beast (7990) is surely amazing.

The titan is the most powerful single GPU offering... Sure it's expensive but there's no worrying about how well the game will scale on launch. Crossfire/SLI setups are notorious for being a huge headache although I enjoy the tinkering involved to get things running right. Both crossfire and SLI have inherent problems with microstutter and skipped frames which can be annoying if it's really prevalent. I've played around with it all... by far I would recommend a single GPU solution for the whole system. It doesn't technically have to be the Titan... a 7970 or a 680 will do until something better comes along.
