GotGame: Why motion-controlled games should be given a chance and not dismissed right out of the gate.
Wii doesn't need defending. It has many awesome games that score as high as 97 on metacritic. Kinect hasn't proved to be a critical success in the games department.
I think Kinect has sucked big time.
Why do two successful devices need defending? Obviously they aren't for everyone, but you aren't forced to buy either one, and I've had a fair share of fun with both. Options are a great thing, still prefer my standard controller over everything else, but you can definitely be in the mood to play these things. Will they ever overtake traditional controls? Nope, but they are a fun alternative from time to time and I'm okay with that.
Don't say things that make sense. It will get you disagrees on N4G. (That said, I agree with you.)
I agree. I use my Kinect for Nike +, Forza 4, Steel Battalion, Kinect Sports 1 & 2 and Dance central 2. Yes its not had a big success with core games but tbh I never expected it to as this was Microsoft's product to open its market as a console for everyone and the games have done that.
I am expecting Kinect 2 to be the one that will change core games with the next xbox as we have seen what developers have done with Kinect on the pc and adding a more powerful Kinect to the new xbox and have it integrated out the box will help developers find ways of using it in games.
As for the Wii Mote I really enjoyed using it when I had my Wii. and now I have a WiiU I have picked up some games I missed for the Wii and with the motion + it adds to the games.
Like you said its not for everyone but I don't want to have 3 consoles that all give the same games and same way of being used. I want 3 consoles that all offer different ways to play games and have different options.
Never bought a Kinect didnt appeal to me. I just wanna sit on my ass and play games.
You could defend the Wii because I still love my Wii until I get into the U. But NO to the Kinect, Kinect is just a total waste of potential. It was implemented poorly.
The Wii U is poorly implemented. Why buy that?
You cannot said that yet, it's way too early to say that. The Wii U will get stronger this year. Alot of great systems had slow starts (PS3 and 3DS)
The Wii Us problem is that it's a current gen console with a next gen price. What happens when the PS4 and Xbox get announced at $400. How do you sell a console with a piece of hard drive in it and current gen graphics and physics after seeing what the PS4 has shown. They screwed the pooch. They would be smart to do a do-over. Bring out a new Wii much sooner than later. They'll have to drop the price to closer $200 to sell it. No matter what games they release.
"The Wii Us problem is that it's a current gen console with a next gen price." Wrong, it's a next gen console like it or not. The Wii U can last as long as the Wii has. For me, the Wii totally died after 2010. But the Wii had more limits than the Wii U had but still brought games with excellent quality like for example Kirby's pic Yarn. The Wii U can last for sure? Not so sure but by the end of 2014, then I'll give out my judgement on if the Wii U is a success or not.
Keep telling yourself that. But do me a favor and tell me another business that is consistently behind it's peers that isn't just a entry level device. A $400 dollar flat screen isn't as good as a $2500 one. An economy car isn't the same as a luxury model. The Wii U is an economy flat screen. The PS4 and 720 are going to be the high-end TVs. The Wii U may cost a lot, but it's mainly for a fancy remote. I'd rather have a better picture, features and sound. The Wii U doesn't have anything that will make it compete with the others. SmartGlass and Vita give them almost all of the Wii U's uniqueness while the Wii U has none of their power.
Its just not for everyone. I played games I wanted on Wii like zelda, metroid and Mario. Loved the games hate the motion control. Same with move and kinect. I've tried them all just prefer the classic controllers.
Still early stages of the motion control is all, just give it time!!
