Playing The Last Of Us – monsters, fear & how running away is a “valid tactic” says director OPM

OPM: This is not the game you think it is. Everything you’ve heard so far has been about the emotion and the characters, about how Uncharted studio Naughty Dog is focusing on cinematic storytelling and human drama. Sensibly wary of being pushed into a narrow horror genre slot, the studio has euphemistically labelled the game ‘survival action’, the downside being that this could reasonably describe any game in which things are moving and you’re trying not to be dead. However, what none of this has touched upon is that The Last Of Us is absolutely bloody terrifying. (PS3, The Last Of Us)

Sony is definitely aiming to end this console generation on a high with its new IP's. The Last of Us and Beyond Two Souls right at the end of the PS3 life cycle, and still looking like GOTY contenders. I'm really stoked for what new games the PS4 has in store.

I just hope Sony maintains its focus on games, and does not get sucked into the social media fad, we've already got PC's and smartphones for that other stuff, just give me new game experiences Sony and you can have my money all day :)

They already said with the PS4 that core gamers come 1st. So i'm on board.

Imagine if we finally get a release date for FFVSXIII and TLG. Then Sony would be unstoppable.

Ummm..the PS3s lifecycle isn't over. Sony's latest firmware ensured that all PS3s worldwide wouldn't explode when the PS4 comes out.

I've always thought running away was a legitimate option!

I don't want to get all competitive here but growing up I was the running away master. I'm the first kid in my area to figure out that Tails could just fly over most of the level if you jumped him off a high enough platform. I got mad conflict avoiding skillz.

Something tells me we'll both really enjoy TLOU.
