Dead Island: Riptide Review | About

About: "Dead Island: Riptide is an undeniably flawed game. And yet it pushes the boundaries of the purpose of a game critic. Because while it's easy to pick apart why it's not a great game, I'd be lying if I didn't admit to enjoying it. The game fulfills a visceral purpose not unlike a summer blockbuster action movie. As I admired my modified weapons, mastered throwing them in just the right way to decapitate a walker lurching towards me, and became fully accustomed to the melee combat in a way that made me an undead killing machine, the flaws started to melt away. Yes, Riptide should have been better but it's still a Hell of a lot of fun." (Dead Island Riptide, PS3) 3.5/5
