It Is Over - Tales of Vesperia PS3 Is Not Being Localized

PlayStation Euphoria: Four years ago, Namco Bandai released a PS3 port of Tales of Vesperia for the Japanese audience and ever since then, there has been a localization petition group for Tales of Vesperia with over 2000 likes. However, this week, it has been halted and they have lost. Namco Bandai have been firm with its fans and the Facebook group that they are not localizing the Tales of Vesperia PS3 port. (PS3, Tales of Vesperia)

Well at least they've brought out Ni No Kuni and are releasing Tales of Xillia later this year.

I respect your positive outlook, but what has those games got to do with Vesperia? That's one more cannon game that we miss out on. Why not this game too? If it's the cost of localization, why not work with Atlus USA (Who has helped most JRPG dev in the last 10 years with western localization)? They can split the cost of localization, utilize Atlus's AMAZING localization team/voice actors, and Atlus could co-pubish it in the U.S., while Namco retains all rights (like Demon's Souls).

Why isn't Namco thinking harder?

Microsoft paid for the translation in the same way Nintendo paid for the Tales of Symphonia translation so no PS2 Symphonia.
chrispseuphoria  +   644d ago
I see your point, Donnieboi. NIS America are actually localizing Time and Eternity which was created by Namco Bandai so yeah, they could do the same with Tales of Vesperia.

the game is 4 years old and they dont think it will make money. USA is more xbox than ps3 so they dont see it as viable.

I just wish these companies would have a English translator in japan to put subs on games as they are made. I want xillia 1 and 2 now!!! same with yakuza 5 and kenzan

It kinda pisses me off. I mean if it's really MS that is the factor preventing it from happening(which some think it is and if certain things said are true then they likely are) that sucks.

I remember awhile back there talk about it and they originally did intend to do it and several of the english voice actors were asked and some said they had already completed recording for the PS3 version and the additional content, other actors had not so it's likely Namco Bandai intended to release the PS3 version here(hence having the actors voice the added PS3 stuff) but then they were forced not to finish it for legal reasons.

It sucks cause so far Vesperia was my favorite game in the series and I really wanted to play the definitive version of it.

Stupid move, Namco. Don't you want my money?!
Pozzle  +   644d ago
Damn. I thought it would have eventually made its way here. :(

You know guys. You can still get it on the 360 if you really want to play this game :/

I'm aware of that. All I'm saying is that you can still play the game, sans extra content. It's better than nothing if you ask me.

You know that this version had extra content right?
Inception  +   644d ago
Or buying the import version and play it with walkthrough. There's a lot of english walkthrough for PS3 ver on the net, complete with every dialogue translation if you don't understand japanese.

One of the BEST Tales game in the series. Loved every minute of the game when I played it for 360. Would have definitely re-played it with the added content the PS3 received.
GribbleGrunger  +   644d ago
Don't they already have all the voice acting for the 360 version? This is the oddest thing.
wishingW3L  +   644d ago
the funny thing is that Vesperia is the best Tales game that has come out this.
Luke_fon_Fabre  +   644d ago
What's the extra content that's got everyone wanting this version so bad?
DEATHxTHExKIDx  +   644d ago

Don't have a 360. I've been hoping that this game comes to NA for a while now. I get that microsoft payed for the translation and such, but since all the work is already done, why not just go ahead and release it for the PS3 as well?
tiffac008  +   644d ago
They did the same with Tales of Symphonia when it was released on PS2 before. So in some ways this was to be expected. Now I expect they will do the same for the Tale of games on the Vita. T_T

Go buy an xbox on ebay for 35-80$ on ebay problem solved.
BoNeSaW23  +   644d ago
Well...looks like I have Officially abandoned all 'Tales' games from here on out. Thanks Namco!
Chaos_Raiden  +   644d ago
Damn, this sucks... I really hope that this game comes out in English for the PS3 version.

Thank God there are still more RPGs to be released this year, like Time and Eternity, Tales of Xillia, etc.

&^#% U NAMCO! %#@^ U MS! This game belongs on PS3 world wide!

So many weapons, music, cut scenes, levels, outfits, characters, etc were cut out from the xbox version because of limited disc space at the time..

So far they arent localizing the vita versions either! I would stop supporting them but i love tales games & will take what i can get.. Thats BS though

People just need to buy a xbox 360 and play this great game. In fact, you can also play lost odyssey and blue dragon as well.
Kaoknight  +   643d ago
I'm very disappointed but at the same time I feel better knowing that bamco finally stop cock-teasing the tales fans to come out and say that they're not localizing it. I mean it's been four years and this whole time they've been giving off this little hope as if they still had any intention of localizing it like trolls.

sorry to sound like a fanboy but it gets me angry that the 360 which was a console for FPS's got this game over the ps3 but oh well...

...i guess it's finally time for me to import the jap version of this game and find a good guide while i'm at it. sadly, I know people who even bought a 360 just to play this single game.
