A new console cycle is the ideal time to create new IP, according to Ubisoft Montreal boss Yannis Mallet.
*Looks at ND and TL0U?*You're full of crap.
"ideal" not the only time for new ips.
ni no kuni, beyond, puppeteer this year. Any time is an ideal time for new IP's. All of thise "new consoles" are the ideal time is a bunch of BS to me.
Agreed and (@Minato) Ni no Kuni isn't a new IP
Yes I want more open world rpgs with intensely deep stories and awesome physics opening ways to new type of gameplays and long 60+ hour campaings. Lay off FPS's and Assassins Creed.
well of course there might be new possibility, but it's no excuse for not having creativity.
...to make endless sequels off.
The new consoles are ONLY ideal to FORCE something else down the throats of the gamers who religiously play the same games...when that game is not there they HAVE TO try something else. For gamers like us who will research into games this is utter nonsense.
Agreed, when new consoles launch is the time I look to get into new series, not that I wont buy them later on, but you want to see something completely new to show off new hardware.
Any time is ideal for new IPs, but a console launch is a great time as people are always looking for something fresh around that time. That's why i don't get the people wondering why Sony are releasing DRIVECLUB on PS4, and GT6 on PS3. A new IP like DRIVECLUB would do better on PS4 than it would on PS3, and a new platform to establish itself is ideal. As for GT6 Polyphony have always released 2 GT games per console. Sony have proven that big new IPs are not just for the first half of a generation.
