Soul Sacrifice Demo Impressions and Preview - The Koalition

The Koalition writes: "Soul Sacrifice is an action-RPG coming exclusively to the PlayStation Vita developed by Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Studio and Marvelous AQL on April 30th in North America and May 1st in Europe. Those studio names may not necessarily mean a whole, but it's worth noting that the entire concept for this game was created by Keii Inafune, co-creator of Mega Man. I'm not quite sure why he is obsessed with protagonists that have lethal weapons where their arms should be, so there's that.

Based on gameplay footage and teaser information, we originally though this game was going to be a semi-open world RPG, in the vein of Ragnarok Odyssey, of which you can read our review of right here; but we were wrong. Not really in a bad way were we wrong, it's just different than what we expected. Instead of throwing players into a world and allowing them to go on quests, purchase items, level-up, customize their gear and all the things you'd expect from an RPG, this one is quite a bit different." (PS Vita, Soul Sacrifice)

This game is awesome. My Vita just notified me that I've played over 20 hours of the demo. That's how good this game is. 20 hours over like, 3 bosses.

"I wish the combat was a bit more fast-paced"

It's already pretty fast-paced in my opinion. And as for the slow attacks complaint I really like how you have to time your attacks to avoid getting a swipe from the boss.

Fair, I just wanted to make sure I expressed that the combat isn't fast-paced, a lot of the trailers make it seem that way is all. Not bad, just a bit slower than I prefer is all.

Definitely looking forward to the full game! A different writer, one in the UK, already has the game for review and he will be posting his review as soon as he can :)

I would say the combat is faster than Monster Hunter but not as fast as Ragnarok Odyssey. Somewhere in between.
Anyway I agree this game is awesome, I've never had this much fun with a demo before.

Fair enough, I think it's got a good pace, not too fast or too slow. But each to their own

I look forward to the review, hope the writer likes it as much as I think I'm going to
