Does your console suffer from last generation syndrome?

It can happen to any console. This doesn’t come from poor sales or bad hardware, but from something much worse. Ever heard of last generation syndrome? Most gaming consoles have been afflicted at one time or another. Most recently the Wii is a victim. GoozerNation is going to attempt to examine the syndromes and try to diagnose a solution. (GameCube, Nintendo, PS2, PSP, Retro, Sony, Wii)

Its when we go from one transition to another. 480p to hd is a huge difference.

I'll hold off on the new gen until I'm done with all the current gen games.

Nah, I still have lots and lots of Gamecube and DS games to play. Graphics really dont matter to me.

Now, if you excuse me, I'll continue with Tales oh Synphonia.

GameCube? I thought even wii was last gen. Or is that wii u? Oh, it's all of the above

I recently bought an N64 cartridge (BlastCorps) so nah, consoles can never get old for me. Good games are good games, some age better than others, but every console has games that have aged well.

there is already a alleged nex-gen console that is suffering from last gen syndrome

Could it be the Wii U?
GiantFriendlyCrab  +   363d ago
why would you say that? :)

So did anyone here actually read the article? Or did everyone just assume that last gen syndrome had something to do with graphical capability?

"What is last generation syndrome? Think of last generation syndrome as this: it’s when the new console comes out and prices start dropping on the old console. Eventually, the prices on the hardware and games from last generation will come back up."

That's the beginning of the 2nd paragraph... I know N4G users aren't the most meticulous, but at least read the article before trying to comment on it's subject matter.

it's a general rule that i try to finish all the games i'd want before getting next gen consoles

but unfortunately there's always some games i just end up skipping for one reason or another
(never played original bioshock and dead space)
which is a shame...

Kept all my old consoles and from time-to-time still do take them out when I feel the need to reminisce the good ol' days of gaming.

And won't probably change even with the upcoming release of next-gen Playstation and XBox.
