GameOn Host Jeff Johnson has finally finished Metal Gear Solid 4. Here are his thoughts on areas of the game that could've been left out!
***MGS4 SPOILERS*** The area that SHOULD have been left out, was Snake NOT shooting himself. Since it was originally intended for him to die there. That would have made for such a sad and epic ending. Though the one in the game isn't all that bad. They did a good job re-writing the story a bit.
when snake had that gun i was sooo pissed and sad at the same time.
The only "worst" part of the game is when it ends and you can't keep playing this amazing game
I think the part about snakes being a walking ''biological weapon'' should of been left out.I mean If Kojima really intended for this to be the grand finale, i question why he added such a cliff hanger. I was content with the ending until i learned of it and now i want witness what happens.
I read in some interview, that Kojima himself want Snake & Otacon dies in the end of MGS 4. But a lot of Kojipro staff don't agree with that ending. Anyway, i think the ending of MGS 4 is awesome. Solid Snake still a human, that's why he can't killed himself even though he killed a lot of enemies and destroy countless of Metal Gear around the world. And i got a teary eyes watching him and Big Boss make peace between them. It's a solid & memorable ending imho.
I thought that this game did not have enough stealth action. Too many automatic weapons too much shooting. I personally like to play bare handed or just with the knife CQC style like Snake Eater.
You can, and it's just as easy to unequip those weapons, as it is to equip them. That is your own fault for going guns blazing, not the games'. I have beaten this game 12 times, probably 5 or 6 of which I have done nothing but perfect stealth runs, and it is one of the most fun things I have ever done in gaming. MGS4, while possible to be a heavy action game, is at the same time one of the best stealth games out there. But it's not a forced stealth any more like the previous games, that's the difference. That's why this game is so flexible. Start it up on Boss Extreme, and try for a stealth run, one of the most exhilarating thing I've ever done. The enemies are practically real life, with their hearing and vision senses, you get scared even knocking over a tin can.
I have beaten this game about over 5 times myself, and from the very first time I played, I never used weapons. This is by far not my first metal gear game. Maybe you misunderstood me. I just thought that this game just had too much access to weapons via Drebin.
Stealth is boring as shit in this for the most part, nothing like what it used to be. The first 2 Acts were good mind you, but after that everything went downhill. Following one man for the majority of one act then a bike chase, then going to a place uninhabited by humans, followed by going to a place with like 5 minutes of normal action (if even that long). Having the freedom to do things your own way is one thing, but the game was just way too tailored to action (fighting between rebels and PMC in the Middle East, resulting in for the most part you sneaking past enemies that aren't even looking for you or towards you, same with the second act). @DS36: People here just can't stand anyone that downtalks MGS4 hence the negative reaction. (I'm not talking about you BiggCMan, at least you're putting your own opinion across, I'm talking about the usual Kojima / Playstation fanboys.) There are others that agree with you but they're not in the majority here.
I'm glad he didn't shoot himself, that would have been cowardly.
i thought the ending was perfect one of the few games to make me cry
I don't like this guy. I feel like he doesn't know what he's talking about.
Totally agree anyone who can't even pronounce konami right really shouldn't be giving pointers to other gamers.
i agree with the last worst part (in comparison with the previous always...in comparison with other games is awesome)and he could also add the catapult moment when trying to get onboard the arsenal gear...completely destroyed up the seriousness of the game with out being funny or "japanese funny" at least..it was irrelevant with game completely...snake (and the rest of the team) could have died right there. Although in MGO, catapult was a very nice addition (and amusing)
