The Witcher 3: “We Are Aiming for CG-Quality In-Game Graphics”

"It's only been a little more than a month since CD Projekt RED revealed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, releasing in 2014 for PC, PS4 and the soon-to-be revealed next Xbox but it already enamoured us with it's amazing visuals and epic scale. The really scary thing? The screenshots captured from an older build of the engine. So the final game looks even better." (PC, PS4, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Xbox One)

I will believe it, when I see it. Hopefully the can achieve it though.

Well The Witcher 2 Assassin's of Kings already looks amazing on my PC and The Witcher 3 is going to be running on the second generation of their Red Engine, so I have no doubt that it will look very close to CG-quality graphics. In some ways, The Witcher 2 already achieved that.

Edit @ BitbyDeath below:

No. Considering that nothing Sony showed looked much better than The Witcher 2 maxed out on a decent PC gaming rig I doubt Sony's conference was the inspiration. If they pushed visuals in The Witcher 2 why would it surprise anyone that they plan to push visuals with the third game?

it look amazing on the PC but flop in sales
@djthechamp24

How is making $20.4 million profit a flop?

And that was at only 940k sold on pc.

Are u a console gamer?

Yes it did not do halo numbers but still.

And only CDpred have my faith to pull it off

Let's hope their optimization skills are up to snuff out of the gate with this one then.
If they are truly trying to up the ante in terms of visuals, especially in the type of open world they are looking to create, they are going to taxing the GTX670s/HD7970s pretty hard.
Pretty much means that the game, at its best, is aiming at the truly higher-end gpus and multi-card setups for this one.
With that, I am never one to argue the technical prowess of CD Projekt.

the images i saw of witcher 3 look like the second one and far from cg
natturk  +   362d ago
Those images were rendered on the old engine it will be a while before you will see proper images from the game.

Good to hear even if it did look like 2 it would still probably be an awesome game

Inspired by Sony's conference?
SlapHappyJesus  +   362d ago
Probably not.
DudeJets  +   362d ago
They said they are aiming for cg graphics for there next engine during the week they announced cyberpunk 2077 which has the witcher 3 easter Egg in the teaser
BitbyDeath  +   362d ago
Just sayin that cause almost all games at Sonys conference looked CG
Kietz  +   362d ago
Ha!
People get what you were trying to say.
The majority just don't agree.

We are talking consoles here. This is aimed at high-end pc. Will be interesting what we'll see of the console version.

Would be nice if they made a better combat system!
cyguration  +   361d ago
There is no game on the market that has animations or combat like The Witcher. His sword handling is unprecedented, so I don't know what you're talking about.

It would be nice if other games came up to par with melee combat as dynamic and fluid as The Witcher.
sourav93  +   362d ago
If the gameplay is tight, don't care if the graphics are CG.
adonisisfree  +   362d ago
from what I've seen so far, they've missed the mark completely. Especially the recent "next gen" screen shots. I know they've been using the witcher 2 engine so far, but when they showed the in-game screen from their "target" in-game engine I was let down
