Max Payne 3: A Second Opinion - Analog Addiction

Rockstar Games are synonymous with high calibre interactive experiences, with deep, mature storytelling and fascinating, eccentric characters. Max Payne 3 upholds this stellar reputation, delivering on all fronts, even though it’s linear, focused nature is almost the antithesis of Rockstar’s typical open-world philosophy. Prepare yourself to be blown away… (Max Payne 3 , PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

Worst R* game ever...this coming from a die hard R* fan.

This was also the worst MP game ever - maybe Remedy should purchase the MP ip from R* and Reboot the game.

Worst Rockstar game? Methinks you never played State of Emergency

Worst Multiplayer game? There are a multitude of worse games on the market.

Man, I put off Max Payne 3 for a LONG time. I loved the Max Payne series back in the day. It was one of my favorite franchises, but I kept looking at MP3 and saying... "That doesn't look like Max, it looks weird, I'll wait till it goes down in price". Now that I've bought the game at a low price, I'm kicking myself for not getting it sooner. It deserved so much more in terms of sales. The bullet time is spot-on, the damage to bodies is amazing seeing where bullets hit, the story is pretty good, and you generally feel bad for Max and the crap he was put through in his life.

I don't understand how you can consider this game as being bad if you played the other Max Payne's. It fits right in, and is a really fun ride all the way through.

I thought the campaign was great but the MP was average at best but after you completed the game there wasn't much replay value but if they bring the max payne gameplay over to gta5 then that would be amazing.

Stranglehold > Max Payne 3. /s

Max Payne 3 was a perfectly fine game, it ended poorly and their were parts throughout which I felt didn't have much purpose in being there, but in the end Max Payne 3 kept moving forward.

If you want to lay any issues at the feet of Max Payne 3, it's the absolutely piss poor job Rockstar did with linking Max Payne 3 to MP1 and MP2. The original games are pretty key to understanding Max and the current state he is in, as the game is Max just looks like a drunk and a awful body guard.

Also as someone said above, State of Emergency was wayyyyyyy worse.

You said freaking stranglehold was better O.O Are you freaking blind dude? That game was horrible at I would put that game slightly above walking dead survival instinct. Max payne 3 while I agree could of had a better story which was better than strangleholds story but right along the lines of it action wise. everything else was freaking incredible it displayed innovation in how bullet time is used and affects characters, overall movement and how people were hit were accurate (though damage could of used a major re balancing online) Everything was freaking amazing. You saying stranglehold is better is like saying ET the game is better than mass effect as a whole.

Did all of my disagree's miss the big /S? Or do I really need to start putting /SARCASM?

MP3 is a great game, it had the shooting mechanics, the story, the narrator, it had almost anything, but MP1 is definitely my favorite

I enjoyed it but I hate how the guys were bullet sponges. I can't stand bullet sponge enemies, it destroys the fun of the gun play.

I'm actually playing through Max Payne 3 now for the first time. I'm at the start of Chapter 12. I LOVE it. I hope there is a sequel in the near future (I'm assuming that Max survives the game's ending).

I would like a sequal as well. Only thing they need to change in MP is the removal of all the one shot kill weapons and stuff. Shotguns, snipers, rockets, noobt ubes, machine guns, all that stuff, We should just start out with like pistols and stuff and get stuff like that once we achieve a goal during combat like maybe having on map pickups instead. Either way it needs to be something that removes those weapons from everyone's hands. It ended up ruining the MP in the end.

Having a team full of one shot kill snipers or rockets or noobtubes was like hell especially when they thought they were good. I cant even count the number of times I've played deathmatch and there was always one guy just running around spamming the sniper not even aiming because it was that easy and he called everyone trash while we were using pistols. I only wish that they had a tournament or MLG thing for max payne 3 and that guy entered so that he could really experience how things would have gone if he played on equal terms.

This game was awesome, it's probably my favorite 3rd person shooter this gen. No stupid puzzles, just tons of dark gritty action with an amazing "Commando" like story. The ending is awesome too, this game deserved more credit than it received in my opinion.

This is probably the best TPS I've ever played
