Top 5 Franchises the Vita Needs to Survive

"The PlayStation Vita is the hand held console that many gamers have always wanted. It’s powerful, provides us with console-like experiences on the go and, perhaps most importantly, it has two analogue sticks. Sadly, it hasn’t caught on in the way that it should have. Part of this is down to Sony’s baffling lack of advertising for the product but it’s also down to lack of games with mainstream appeal. Here are the top 5 franchises with the power to breathe life into the Vita…", says Kevin O'Donell (PS Vita)

I am not sure if the PSV needs a GoW right now. Sales of the latest one are lower than they ought to be (questionable I guess).

What PSV needs is a proper entry for COD and FIFA. Continue with AC support, get GTA. As for Japanese companies... yes, MH is definitely a big one they need for the JPN market but I think they really need to get SE to get some FF games going besides just a HD port of FFX. Type 0 port... heck a port of FF Dimensions is at least something.

And while speaking of Japan... a PES soccer game... I am surprised there is not one already for the PSV.

I think the 3DS taught us a lesson: games from the past won't necessarily help sell your current system. Nintendogs + Cats on 3DS proved that.

I think the article is dead wrong. What the Vita needs is unique, built-from-the-ground-up games, and then Sony needs to actually advertise them.

Most non-numbered games and prequels in general usually have lower sales than their numbered counterparts (God Of War I, II and III). That's probably why in my opinion. Though about the topic about the Vita needing to survive and stuff like that, the Vita is fine no need to worry anymore. I'd be more concerned if the install base is still about 3 M up until now but it's picking steam and sooner or later we'll get more games :D

They want a GOW for vita? So journalists can bash that game like they did with Ascension? By saying its too much of the same, but if they change it a lot then it becomes too different!

How about.

Shadow of the Collosus HD

Okami HD

Metal Gear Solid 5

Monster Hunter 5

Persona 5

Gran Turismo 6

Although I'd rather a glorified HD Remake of Gran Turismo 2, or just Gran Turismo 2 even jeez.

A new Pangya Fantasy Golf game.

Bluetooth Controller Support.

Unlike a lot of N4G'ers I'm actually a pretty big CoD fan and honestly, while I think a solid entry would be nice, the pick up and go nature of portable gaming and the multiplayer focus of CoD's popularity make it not that critical for the Vita, IMHO.

Monster Hunter is much more important and a good call. Sony should bribe or buy the Monster Hunter devs... Whatever is necessary to get it to become a Vita game and if possible reduce 3DS support in the future. This should literally be priority #1 for Sony wrt Vita. I don't even own MH for my PSP but I recognize its importance in the market. It literally was the PSPs saving grace in Japan.

It doesn't need a bunch of HD remakes or straight sequels to existing console games (i.e. <title> 1,2,3,4,5 whatever), either, IMHO. Jamming some game designed for a set top console onto the Vita will just result in poorly reviewed "ports".

It needs well designed *portable* games that have instant pickup and play appeal combined with long term depth. You know stuff like Monster hunter. I have high hopes for Tearaway, for example.

I love hardcore gaming but the Vita games have to be designed for mobile: pick up and play on a car or bus ride, easy to save/pause/return to, good and non-gimmicky touch controls, etc.

This article is almost 180degrees off in most ways, IMHO, and the author clearly does not understand the market forces at work in portable gaming.

I think the article should be rename top games that need to come to vita. Franchises in my opinion would be like for example ubisoft and Ea. (but i could be wrong)
