GamesBeat Threeview: BioShock Infinite reviewed by a critic, an analyst, and an academic

GamesBeat: We’ve heard nothing but near-universal love for BioShock Infinite, so we didn’t expect the game to be very polarizing. But one of our Threeview reviewers wasn’t as crazy about the recently released shooter (PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3) as we expected her to be. At the same time, one of our other reviewers liked it a lot more than we thought. It just goes to show how little we actually know about our guest writers and their crazy opinions.

That academic review is really, really smart and well-written. It's almost over my head, though. Almost. :)

@ Sadie2100

oh yes it is well-written, I really enjoyed that, but if you think it almost went over you head, I know for a fact it flew over the heads of most of the people on this site... :)

It's a great perspective on what your not thinking about as you play - that lack of choice... Perhaps it's because we are already programmed as FPS gamers, we are all to use to having no real choices.

Where the outcome of the game has already been predetermined regardless of the path you choose to arrive at the games set destination.

Yeah, it's a great observation. BioShock has a bit of that too with the "Would You Kindly" business.

Definitely a GOTY contender in my book - it's the first game this year that made me want to dive back into it after I was done.

On a related note: has anyone played it on PS3 using the PS Move controller? Quite tempted to finally buy into it for Infinite and other Move-compatible games I've got.

I haven't, but if it works well with the powers, that could be really cool to experience.

To melee attack you have to swing the remote, with can easily get you turned around and killed since turning is controled by moving the reticle to the side of the screen. Controller is the way to go if to ask me.

Oh ok. That sucks. Thanks for the feedback!

Jane is a smart cat, and I love me some Pachter. He's bad for me, but I love him.

Fascinating variety of perspectives!

Fine read, really. starting to feel pretty in the dark about not having this game in my collection.
