Battlefield 4: “It’s important to grow up a bit”

Edge:Millions came to Call Of Duty for the singleplayer, and stayed for the multiplayer; perhaps DICE and EA feel that they have won the battle in terms of online play, but can only win the war by beating its great rival’s bombast and spectacle in Battlefield 4’s solo campaign. We spoke to DICE executive producer Patrick Bach to find out more.

They did it the whole time during the development of bf3 and we know how well bf3's single player turned out. Maybe bf4 will be better, but it's the same old song and dance as last time so far.

I have never played a battlefield game, and I've played and owned every COD game.

I can say 100% that I am completely sick of COD games.

They just don't appeal to me anymore. I need something more. I've evolved and so have millions of others.

I won't touch COD until they get it right next gen, and so if BF4 is good I might give it a try.

I've been having fun playing planetside 2 so I know it's not just FPS games that I'm sick of....

We need a little bit more realism in games that are pretending to be "real"

Took you this complete generation to notice Cod has gone down the shitter?

I disliked latest BO2 singel player.. it was crap.. sold the CD, this time even multiplayer sucked!

and about BF3 single player also crap.. it was fun for 3 hours and then it was all the same with no feel for realism, just stupid Hollywood shooting..

and after watching BF4 SP, it felt the same.. just random stupid shooting with no purpose and chopper flying 2 feet above head.. looked just dumb..

so in the end they both suck in SP, but the multiplayer is Battlefields strength... So im hoping there are more open world maps, with huge areas alot of equipment, customization and air/land vehicles... and they have to make WW2 game again, and then Vietnam!!! Its a must, Im tired of this auto tracking auto locking bull shit, I want to decide who lives and dies not some scripted automated rockets and stuff!!

Those are now days warfare weapons and tech. As this things advance in real life so will they in warfare video games. Just my opinion. But I prefer BF over COD anyday! The MP now has something for everyone, CQ combat maps ala COD and the full blown warfare of big maps with air and ground vehicles. There's also the co-op part of it.

famoussasjohn1198d ago

BF4 dropped co-op and will be SP and MP.
BF3's co-op was okay, wish it had more missions via DLC or something to give it a little bit of use.

Heard this same hype about BF3 two years ago.

The campaign was a lifeless bore.

bf4 is bf3 just with more cowbell and glitter.

Ace_Pheonix1198d ago

I'm always glad when developers respond to the "more cowbell" demands, but they are throwing in glitter too!?! Count me in!

make something other than generic fps then

DigitalRaptor1196d ago (Edited 1196d ago )

Battlefield franchise is one of the least generic FPS out in the mainstream, with pervasive and discerning gameplay.

It's generic to you because it's aiming to be realistic. You're one of those nutcases that thinks all gaming experiences should be story focused, fantasy based, and outrageously unique in design , to be relevant. If you'd played it with context of it being a multiplayer focused battle simulation and without ridiculous story-driven expectations, you'd understand its place in gaming.

BF4 looks to up itself in the story department, but no true Battlefield fan cares much for that when the staple experience is the dynamic multiplayer gameplay. BF4 trailer indicates nautical gameplay and that in itself is very promising.

So like i said, get an understanding of the franchise before unleashing your ignorant pro-fantasy opinions.
