Tales of Producer Talks About JRPG Changes Over 15 Years Of Tales

Siliconera: "On-hand to talk about Tales of Xillia at Namco’s Gamers Day and also provide a demo was Hideo Baba, the producer of the Tales of series since day one. He was a very charming individual, and quite proud of the 15-year anniversary, of what he dubbed the 'cornerstone of the JRPG market'. That topic is what kicked off my questions." (Hideo Baba, PS3, Tales of Xillia)

This was a good interview. But from what it sounds like we may be seeing even less JRPGS as time goes on. I hope thats not the case tho.

I really REALLY hope...
... That they'll start releasing these games with the option to play them with the original japanese voices, and English subs.

It seems like a great series, but the dub-only prevents me from buying it.

You'd think they'd just add subs to the jp version and let you import it on region free consoles. That wouldn't really require much work.

From the interview, looks like mobile / social games had some negative impact for japan devs who made JRPG for console. But i hope devs like Konami, Capcom, or Sony will revive their popular JRPG such as Suikoden, Wild Arms, Legend of Dragoon, and Breath of Fire for PS4/next gen consoles.

JRPGs were better when japan was all about super heroes and giant robots.
