Rumour: Sorcery Developer Summoning New First-Person Shooter for PS4

Push Square: "The studio behind last year’s overlooked PlayStation Move exclusive Sorcery is working its magic on a brand new title for the PlayStation 4. Having spent the latter half of last year producing Borderlands 2 DLC, the Californian outfit is now turning its attention to Sony’s next generation machine." (PS4)

Hard to tell

Made me remember Yoshida's quote a couple of days ago:
"... we hate to see all the PS4 games being first-person shooters.."

well he said all not some

What if its RESISTANCE 4 !!!!!!! :)
Root  +   613d ago
With how many studios they have, I still believe him.
bicfitness  +   613d ago
Actually, this could be who is handling the Planetside 2 > PS4 port. There's nothing that says SOE has to be doing it, any internal studio could technically move assets around.

FPSes aren't my thing, but if Sony launched the PS4 WITH Planetside 2 PRE-INSTALLED, it could be a major coup for the CoD crowd on their platform.

I've lost interest in FPS's a bit but not fully.

I always like having a shooter around to jump online and play a few games.

I'm done with COD until next gen, just got a PC and have been loving Planetside 2.

It's just different compared to what I've played before. The battles are huge and fun.

FPSs used to be all about competition. Now its about achievements and streaks. Hopefully that gets better as time moves on. Only a few I see really pushing the FPS/TPS lineup beyond the regular stuff.
Nitrowolf2  +   613d ago
honestly though, besides Killzone and Resistance, in terms of Sony First party studio what other games are FPS?

I know Planetside 2, but that would be a huge and welcomed addition for the PS4, considering it's free-to-play.

Only other one I can think of is Payday.
Although I suppose that's more of a third party thing with Sony only publishing.

Oh boy¡ Planetside 2 in a PS4 could be great¡
DeadlyFire  +   612d ago
I can definately see Planetside 2 coming to PS4. I just wonder if PC vs. console play can happen. Would be awesome if they did that I believe. Just give the PS4 version keyboard+Mouse compatibility to make everyone happy.

Lol I forgot all about Sorcery.

Anyway, a FPS Move title sounds interesting. Lets just hope it actually sales this time.
Riderz1337  +   613d ago
Do you even read what you post?

"We hate to see ALL the PS4 games being FPS"

Keyword: ALL - Doesn't mean we won't see some FPS games.
Shacojin  +   613d ago
Really hope they try to utilize the move controller for next gen ps4 I thought sorcery was a decent game and actually did a pretty good job using it. They should make some RPG using the move controller and voice commands with the new PS4 Eye
bicfitness  +   613d ago
I politely disagree. I'm waiting for them to patch Sorcery with standard PS3 controls. I find Move more precise than the Wii or Kinect, but no less finicky or irritating to use. I gave motion control a fair shake, waggle and flail - pun intended - but its just not for me.
raytraceme  +   613d ago
I think it has to do with getting used to the controls. I played infamous 2 with the move first and tried playing with ds3 but couldn't because the move was just that much better. Same thing for sorcery I wouldn't want to play it any other way then playing it with the move.
Shacojin  +   613d ago
Oh I completely understand, Move is very questionable in terms of performance and I found it pretty cool to use during Sorcery, not perfect but just a different experience.. wish the devs would go out of their way to incorporate both move and dual shock support.. best of both worlds. I myself prefer dual shock control majority of the time... every once in a while I break out of my comfort zone and try move

For some reason I read this as new "Summoner" for PS4... I liked Summoner, though I'm probably in the minority there. XD
Skate-AK  +   613d ago
That's what I thought it was too. Played Summoner all the time on PS2.

an fps must be very fitting for them. i read somewhere a while back the workshop are a bunch of ex-cod devs. i played the sorcery demo. wasnt bad, rather enjoyable. just never picked it up as i never felt like doing the trophy hunt
sprinterboy  +   613d ago
Excellent game, shame gamers dont try more games out there comfort zone, some great experience had with games like these and other PSN games.
danny818  +   613d ago
Well, they have killzone and with resistance out this'll be its replacement. All thought i know forsure that Sony will still be working on other great games and playstation only indie games. Im looking forward to killzone, knack, drive club, and possible other unannounced title ps4 has up its sleeve
AkatsukiPain  +   613d ago
Sorcery is the best game utilizing motion controllers. There isnt 1 game on kinect that is as impressive and as fun as Sorcery. Hope we see this new game at e3 or a Sorcery 2 would be cool.

My only issue was that it was short, otherwise it's awesome for a Move title. I hope to see 2 with a graphical leap, and longer story.
GABRIEL1030  +   613d ago
Sorcery is a great, but underrated game. The studio showed a great talent with this game, this is another great news for he PS4.

Despite that the game doesnt sold well, Sony recognizes the studio talent and decides to support a new game, I'm glad to know that could coming a great game in a couple of years.

I enjoyed playing sports champions 1 with the move, table tennis specifically

Me too - the missus looked at me a little funny though, as I'd actually work up a sweat playing that! Amazing how much control you have over the ball with slice, top/side spin etc :)

Still haven't picked up the sequel yet - I bet the tennis is great fun with all they learnt!
GravelerMagnitude9  +   609d ago
Yea that's what I'm saying and that is why I hate when people compare move with Kinect, because with move you are actually holding something and with that tennis when you turned the move the the paddle also rotated , but with Kinect you would just be slapping air with your hand.. I wish I woulda got sports champs 2 though, it woulda been fun.
