Minecraft Creator Markus ‘Notch’ Places Second in Time’s Influential Person Poll

Minecraft creator and noted hat enthusiast Markus “Notch” Persson has placed second in Time magazine’s annual poll of the world’s most influential people. The poll, called the Time 100, allows users to vote for and against a pool of 150 people assembled by Time, with the top 100 being placed in order by the publication’s editorial team and released as a full list on April 18th. (Industry, Minecraft, PC)

Dang man lol... I remember playing Minecraft when it was still unheard of back in the day. Crazy to see how popular it and its creator have become.

Its become too popular that Mojang have added stuff to the game they THOUGHT people wanted, but absolutely didn't.

The game was at it's best before 1.8... pre 1.7.3 was the best and now... what the hell :/

- Enchanting table?
- Hunger? (I mean who really wanted that to start with?)
- Dragons?! Trying to be like Skyrim much (anyone else find it weird how Dragons arrived not long after the Bethesda/Mojang fight?)
- Experience?! Who even bothers with that crap?

Second most influential according to an internet poll =/= actually being the second most influential person in the world. The idea that he might actually be the second most influential person in the world is nothing short of insane.

To be fair, he's influenced all those people to vote him as influential. Isn't that what the poll is for? Influencing? XD

Lol. Guess I can't argue with that logic.

lol, what?

This fatty almost got the top spot? I guess the poll has become a joke.

"This fatty almost got the top spot?"

At-least he achieved something far greater than you ever could. Anyone with some sort of decency would call him by his name but clearly you have no respect. If you don't someone, what right do you have to you have to judge them? Calling him a "fatty" is just plain ignorant, rude, and, oppressing.

I don't agree with his positioning, but the name calling was not necessary. Then again, it's the internet. Why be surprised.

Who the hell still plays Minecraft? (besides those tryhards wannabes youtubers). Minecraft was all hype, LBP brought the create, play and share to all the gamers, but somehow everyone sees Minecraft as the game where you can do anything. Never understood it tbh

It's the #2 most played game on Xbox Live and millions still play it on PC. Just because you can't play it on your PS3, that doesn't mean you should hate the game.

And LBP did not invent creativity in games. Halo 3 did the Play, Create, Share stuff with Forge and Theater back in 2007. Plus, tons of games have had level editors years before that.

All this proves is that the WORLD as a whole has its priorities completely backwards. The younger generations that love this that much are going to absolutely ruin everything when they takeover.
