Sports Titles: More Innovative Than You Think

Bracken Lee-Rudolph from ITF Gaming writes: Videogames based on real-world sport have a very limited scope: They have to build the majority of their gameplay from the parameters set forth in the sport’s rules, they have to allow players to experience the sport within realistic bounds and they have to replicate real-world names and faces. That is pretty much all they can do, besides the odd gimmicky feature here and there. However, this does not mean that they have to lack in the field of innovation: Physics can be improved, animations can be made more realistic, and more features can be added to make the videogame feel like a truer representation of the real sport.
