Kinda feel as though the writer of this could have picked better trailers for brink and Lair. The CGI brink trailer (started with a battle on a bridge) was awesome and so was Lair's. Those were the two that misled me anyway. nice article though!

Can't comment on lair as I never played it.
Brink trailer wasn't misleading because it didn't really show you anything that you couldn't do.
Dead Island was a CGI trailer so if you expected to play a game like that its your fault for not understanding.
The only really misleading trailer is Colonial Marines as it tries to make a prerendered trailer look like actual gameplay.
Borderlands trailer wasn't misleading at all as that was the direction of the game at the time.
