What I don't understand is The Wii is technically the most "successful" console this gen yet the first to lost support from Nintendo themselves only after 6 years? What does this say about the WiiU which is looking like it will be less successful?

It says the Wii U will be just fine but will also have its support dropped once their next console releases. The only ones to actually support their older consoles even when a new one comes out is Sony. Even Microsoft drops support for their old stuff.

Well Microsoft dropped support of the original Xbox because the company that made the chip-set stopped producing them, and the console itself was losing money on every one sold, that was just a smart business decision.

All signs point to Microsoft continuing support on the 360, since it's so cheap to make and they have been making a killing off of them, they have to be, there hasn't been a price cut in almost 4 years now.

Throw the Xbox Mini in the mix and I think Microsoft holds true to keep supporting the 360 into 2015, why abandon it now? Heck, drop the price and watch the thing fly off shelves.

Nintendo probably needs to drop support of the Wii though, if it really is confusing to people, best to get it off the market, they got their 100 million sold and generation win, time to move forward a bit.

its only losing services that promoted new and upcoming titles. and a few message apps. most people didn't use those. the store and vc and online play all remain fine.
